Ok so this will sound pretty silly but whatever's happened happened

Long story short, I've been using a two tubs of BP I got off Dan (regimen supplies) for the last few year or so ... two tubs lasted me a while since i went off it for a bit in the middle and only applied once a day etc ... I got another shipment today since the last bottle was about to finish and I happened to check the expiry on the first one and turns out it expired in 03/2010 ... two years ago

My question is, what are the dangers / effects etc I would've had? I've been using it regularly (twice a day) for the last 6 months or so ... and only saw a slight improvement in my acne (I've been on accutane a whole bunch of years ago).

Could it have caused MORE acne because it was expired? and could it have been less effective because it was expired i.e. can i expect better results from the new bottle?

I would imagine that the product itself would not really harm the skin, that being said, the process of rubbing it may. Since the product is definitely less effective, the process of rubbing the product on may have cause more harm than the benzoyl peroxide actually prevented. Altogether, I can't see any significant side effects of using expired benzoyl peroxide... just not much benefit! At least you learnt your lesson Good luck man

Products that have expired begin to break down and lose effectiveness. You will see better results using a fresh product.
That said, once bp has been opened it needs to be used within 6 months for best results.
If it isn't opened, it will stay fresh until the expiry date.

According to my dermatologist, benzoyl peroxide breaks down quickly, so I would avoid using expired BP.
