For years I've been using benzoyl peroxide as a part of treating my acne. Only in the past year, however, have I teamed it with a more gentle cleanser. It's also only been in the last few months that I've really been using a lot of benzoyl peroxide gel at once.
So basically just a few questions:

- Is the process of The Regimen really so key to it's effectiveness?
- Is it possible that it won't work for me because I've already been using benzoyl peroxide gels / products for a while?
- Could I have built a resistance to BP?

and just out of curiosity:
- I've noticed there isn't a 'toner' step in the Acne.org regimen. Why is this?

And if it matters, this is what I'm currently using:
- Cetaphil cleanser
- BenzacAC benzoyl peroxide gel, (switching between 2.5% and 5% strengths) also only use it a night as I can't apply a moisturiser over the top as it just rubs off with the moisturizer - even after letting it dry up to 30mins plus
- Cetaphil moisturizer (always in the morning)

-occasionally will use witch hazel as a toner after cleansing.

Any advice / help you can give is so greatly appreciated!
Thanks :)

The regimen is effective. I had been using benzoyl peroxide for a while prior to starting and the results from the regimen here were far more effective. I was actually a little amazed by the results. I have consciously been being gentle on my skin and avoid touching the face and I believe that has been key. I only had mild or moderate acne to start but it all cleared up in 15 days. The downside is that the bp dried the hell outta my face and made it look tan. If you've got active acne, especially more moderate-severe, then I would recommend it because it does do its job. If you have more mild acne, the regimen still is effective, but in my opinion it is a little too much time/money investment just for mild acne.

Thanks for the reply :) I am pretty used to the effects of using large amounts of BP but I think the main thing for me is that I haven't been consistent in the amount of BP I apply every day - as well as not being as gentle with my skin as I should...

Thanks again
