are there any regimen users who use a toner after cleansing? i have always toned and feel grimy if i don't. but the one i've been using forever causes a reaction with the BP causing my face to be beet red. just wondering what everybody uses to get the dead skin/residue off after washing. thanks!
Toner

To me 'toning' has always just meant restoring the ph of the skin to slightly acidic. I personally use a bit of citric acid dissolved in water in a spray/misting bottle. Never tested the exact ph it comes out to but I've found that putting in just enough so that you can just barely taste the sourness in the water is a good level.
i prefer this to any commercial toners cause it's the simplest form of ph restoration. No perfumes/alcohol/ random ingredients.
for dead skin, try vigorously rubbing your face with your fingers in the shower after using your facewash. I've always found this to work well and it's less harsh than say scrubbing with a facecloth. Rub a spot really hard for a few seconds (hard like you're trying to hear a 'squeaky clean' type sound from a clean wet plate) and look at your fingers, when you do actually remove anything it will be leftover on your fingers as white stuff.
I then spray the citric acid solution after the shower. (this can also be helpful for people who get rough/dry/itchy spots on body from using soap everyday)

If you still need to tone after cleansing that means that the cleanser you are using is not doing its job properly.
