I get really oily skin during the day. Is there any sort of product I can use while I'm at work or at school to help? Some sort of wipe or something?

Another thing. My skin gets oily, which probably makes my acne a lot worse. People say that you should only shower twice a day and anything more will aggravate the skin. Is it okay if I take 3-4 showers a day, and not use products during the extra showers? Sometimes I have the opportunity to take more showers like on weekends, or if I'm at the gym.

Oil blotting sheets! Clean & Clear do good ones. They're essentially sheets that you blot your face with, and they absorb excess oils and such. About the showering, over washing with even just water strips oils from your skin. Hope this helped Posted Image

Edit: Bryan's right, I was simply quoting information I was told which I guess was wrong. After some research, I found glands do not produce more oil... but overwashing will irritate your skin and I got this from Dan haha. I wouldn't say its the biggest fallacy, but my apologies :)

...About the showering, over washing with even just water strips oils from your skin. To compensate for the lost oil, your glands start over producing too much of it which leads to oily skin...

I realize that you just started here and don't know any better, but what you said above is the greatest fallacy that's ever been repeated on this site. Sebaceous glands don't "compensate" for washing by making more oil. They make the same amount of oil, whether you wash your skin, or not.

I just read up on some of Dan's stuff and it says that washing more than twice a day irritate the skin. I'm not sure who is right. Thanks a lot clara! I'll give those a try!

Washing your skin more often that twice a day will make it dry which will irritate it and thus cause more breakouts. Even if you take showers 3 or 4 times a day, try just to wash your body but not your face. I have oily skin but because acne products are so drying, my skin gets extra dry if I wash my face more often, so this is me speaking from experience.

Also, since my skin is oily, I have the same problem as you with my skin getting shiny during the day. I go to the bathroom at work and use one of those brown cheap paper towels. You take the paper towel and "dry" your face as if you would if you just washed it. The paper towel will absorb the oil and you will be shine free for hours. :)

Let me know if you have any questions.

I used to struggle with oily skin. I'm not entirely sure what caused it because I've changed a lot of things and my skin has cleared up. However, what I can say is that now I only wash with a cleanser once a day. In the morning I splash cold water on my face and that's it. I know a lot of people say that washing your face more can irritate your skin, but I have found that cold water is actually refreshing. I believe that where most people run into irritation (for the most part) is by using warm/hot water. If you wash with hot water, that can definitely irritate your skin. I have used the blotting sheets in the past and they seemed to work ok, but my skin would just get oily again. Since I've started being nicer to my skin and just splashing some cold water on my issues have completely vanished.

I just use oil-absorbing sheets. It's pretty inexpensive and gets the job done.

I would just do a max of 2 washing face/showering a day and oil-absorbing sheets in between.

Two products that really help with oiliness throughout the day is Smashbox Anti-shine and Paula's Choice Shinestopper. They are both amazing at keeping you face matte, at least for a few hours depending on your oiliness. I currently PC Shinestopper and it seriously keeps my oil at bay for about 4 hours (it's supposed to work for 6 hours but my face is super oily so it only works for about 4. Still my mornings are so much better ever since I started using it.
