It is great to be aware of possible complications, and I will add that to my Laser-Link-O-Rama when I get around to it. People have to go into any treatment with their eyes wide open. I am one of the lucky ones who tolerates lasers quite well.

i did fraxel restore, ended up with alot more scars , pitted , and liner scars thats across almost 2 inches and enegery burst lines around both my cheeks

the clinic deined ever taking before pictures of me before treatment yet i remember them taking 2 pictures before post op, they tried to cover up the fact they messed up.
and wouldnt reply to my emails.
but from me research suggested the operator used too high of a setting that totally destoryed my skin from underneath , which left with burst marks and liner scaring and pitting and boxscars in areas which didnt have any scaring at all.

I went in for discoloration and minor scarings came out with better texture and sever scaring which pretty covering both my cheeks

yet apparent i showed my before and after pictures of the treatment to them the clinic that treatement me blamed me and said those were scratch marks that look like i did my self with the lines i was about to turn around and punch that woman in the face.

so i went back and researched my ass off, it turns out her setting that she refused to even tell me was too high for my skin type, also because im asian skined she shouldnt of ever gone that high with the setting, because the first treatment i had huge improvement i guess she figured she would amplfy the settings for my second treatment and totally destoryed my face

Did you really had good improvements with the first fraxel RESTORE treatment? What settings did she use and what kind of scarring did you have?

I'm also considering laser but since I KNOW I have a very sensitive skin and reading all the horror stories here I am very scared to do it. I just need something that actually WORKS and is not too risky. Which doesn't seem to exist.

4 complications out of 650 patients means a .006 complication rate. You can die from just about any treatment so does that mean you don't get the surgery. Unlike me most successful patients never post again so you don't hear the success stories. By all means pass up the one thing that will help you. Learn to live with your scars.

I had a horrible experience with the Fraxel laser. The doctor that did the treatment on my face said that I was a great candidate because I have pale skin. I really wish that I would have done more research. I told her the part that I disliked the most on my face was around my mouth. She said that she would turn up the laser around my mouth to get the best results. She also did 2 swipes over my face. Not only was I left with little dots on my cheeks and around my mouth, I was also left with "old lady" lines around my mouth. The doctor felt bad and gave my "free" microdermabrasion and Juvederm treatments, but nothing corrected was she did to me. I would like to sue her, but she would just lie to the court. I'm sure she has touched up the before pictures that she took of me. I am very sad and upset because of what she has done to my face. Is there anything I can do??

Thank you for asking Fraxel is 1/2 the name of a laser.

To quote their own site this is definitely not an ablative laser.

"The Laser Genesis procedure utilizes non-invasive laser technology to safely, discretely and effectively treat fine-line wrinkles, diffuse and excessive redness and help manage large pores, uneven skin texture, and scars. You can expect to see subtle yet consistent results after each treatment, without unwanted side effects such as bruising or excessive skin irritation. Treatments can be performed in a relaxed, comfortable manner without the use of topical anesthetics or gel."

By the way, thanks for the post. I have added this to Laser-Link-O-Rama.

Those "complications" seem to happen if the patient wanted their neck or eyelids treated though.

I had my eyelids done once and my neck 4 times with no complications. The eyelids were a pain in the butt because they had to put the shields in and my eyes were so dry.

Shame. It seems like this study showed issues around the eyes and neck. The eyes are so thin skinned and I don't think I'd do that at all. Not sure why the neck is an issue. but I guess the skin there may be thin or somehow different than the face.

I would insist on prophylatic antibiotic dosing with any procedure.

yes, even something like subcision. It doesn't hurt to pop an antibiotic for a few weeks to avoid infection which can lead to more scarring.

The skin on the neck is inherently thinner because it needs to be more flexible to allow the head to move with full range of movement.
