So my first month of accutane i was put on 1 40mg pill a day, i started the second month last week and my doc put me on 2x 40mg pills a day..do i take them at the same time or spread them out like 1 at breakfast and 1 at dinner? i asked the pharmacist and they said at the same time but i feel like i read people say they were told to spread it out..also is jumping from 40 to 80 mgs a day to much?

The literature that comes with Accutane states it's most effective to take them in divided doses, line 1074 of attached pamphlet. So breakfast and dinner is just fine. No, the increase in dosage isn't extreme at all. It's pretty normal for the US.

I find that it's way more effective when spread out and taken with a rich meal.

I would say spread them out simply because personally I find each of my two doses to be a bit harsh on my stomach

It doesn't really matter if you take it at the same time or not because it stays in your system so long. What's important is that you take them with a good meal because accutane is fat soluble.
