Well, after much deliberation and desperation, it has come to this. I have been suffering from acne for a relatively short period, a little over two years. However, these two years have been filled with broken promises of homeopathic cures and a previous dermatologist, and a lot of pessimism revolving my acne. My sister is twenty-six (I am eighteen), and she still gets acne, so I came to the conclusion that I had to take it now, before I go to college! (Even if that means my face will be demolished for my high school graduation :( ). I eat a very controlled diet and drink absolutely nothing else but water, haven't had a candy bar or soda in over a year, but obviously that has gotten me nowhere. For reference, I have mild-moderate acne, although for the past several days it has worsened a bit, sans-Accutane. I aim to maintain this log to not only keep my sanity intact if and when I hit rock-bottom, but to hopefully help others in the exact scenario with tips and generosity.

I am absolutely petrified of the initial breakout. I PRAY to some higher being that I do not endure that horrible, horrible experience! However, for the drug to work properly, I will hopefully perceive these temporary blights to only be a minor obstacle in my goal to rid of my acne, once and for all. I am very aware of the consequences associated with the drug, mostly the dry skin and the horribly chapped lips.
So, in addition, is there anything else I need to know about taking Accutane? Aquafor? Check. Sunscreen? Check. DO I need a mild face cleanser of some sort? Please help!

Supplements: Calcium, Magnesium, and Zinc (3 daily), as well as Vitamin E-400 (one daily). The Accutane dosage is one 40 m/g pill a day

IT BEGINS

Good luck with your course! I am at my 2nd month now, Just finished my 1st two days ago! Starting to see things change now. Looks like you have all the things you need. I would get a non comedogenic face wash and a non comedogenic moisturizer cream. If you are in the US CeraVe and Cetaphil are good ones. I use CeraVe and I LOVE IT.

Your supplements look good. I started using Biotin so my hair doesn't fall out, Some peoples do, I wanted to prevent it if I could. Also Fish Oil and glucosamine sulfate for my joints. My knees have been sore and aching since starting so that helps.

Thank you for your input! I already have some small bottles of CeraVe, complimentary from the dermatologists'. It has been one hour since I took the very first pill, and I can already feel a zit on my cheek emerging (Don't know how to feel about this). But with the power of the drug, wouldn't a face wash be like dousing a house fire with a small fire extinguisher?

They medicine pushes all the oil and gunk out of your face. So if you have bacteria or anything until the surface now, it will need to come out. That means its coming out in the form of a zit. Sucks I know. The zit you are getting now was coming before the accutane. If only the medicine worked that fast. That would be great.

The moisturizer helps remove the dead and flaking skin, plus your face still gets dirty and water can't remove everything. If you are using something non comedogenic it won't be harsh on the face.
