I really want to stop using make, it makes my face oiler than when I don't use it, it makes my blemishes more apparent by the end of the day, as it fades away and becomes shiny. It would be so nice to have a bare face, excluding sunscreen and medicated cream. And just blot with tissue paper through the day. Is there anything I can do to help improve my skin and tone down redness with little or no makeup? Any tips will be much appreciated.

Make up*

I don't know much about this, but I know there are topics about it in different parts of this forum, so maybe you can find one and get some help.
In my personal opinion, oily skin looks far worse than blemishes, but that' probably just because I suffer from oily skin myself. Anyway, I don't think I was much help, but good luck! Take a look around the forums, I know I've seen a couple threads on here with what looked like good responses.

Try some african black soap, that really balanced my skin tone.

I know how you feel though, I've stopped wearing makeup every single day now. Sometimes you just want to feel natural. Please do so in the knowledge that you're beautiful and no amount of makeup ever changes a person's facial features significantly.

You know, I'm not a huge facial makeup person. Maybe a good tinted moisturizer with a translucent powder for oil control can give some coverage without going all out. I use MAC tinted moisturizer and BareMinerals Mineral Veil. I haven't used the MAC long enough to say it's worth the price, but the Mineral Veil is good and doesn't aggravate my skin.

You can get African Black soap at Vitamin Shoppe or online.

There are some problems though with some soaps not being geniune. You could look on Etsy.

Have you considered using a tinted moisturizer and some translucent powder to prevent shine? When I don't feel like wearing makeup, I use Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer or Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer (both have SPF) with MAC Blot Powder in the T-zone.

I get mine on a popular online auction site. ;P

As for 'genuine' black soap... I use the Nubian Heritage one, which isn't the raw stuff, but it works remarkably well. I've not had problems with combination skin since I started using it, all of my skin is one texture now. I only use water and facial wipes other than the soap - the wipes to take off makeup, the water at night time before bed.

I think it may depend on what kind of makeup you use that causes your oiliness... I also have pretty blotchy uneven skin too, but it leans more towards combination than oily.

What works for me is during my super oily days, using a mineral powder foundation (Everyday Minerals) (for some light coverage), and a setting/oil absorbing powder with kaolin clay (Cover Fx Powder Fx foundation) keeps my face looking matte for a good number of hours.

Though for you, I feel that if your skin is really that oily, it might be good to try using a mineral powder foundation with kaolin, and a setting powder with kaolin to keep your face matte. If you start seeing shine, blot, and then reapply setting powder to keep your face mattified.

Erm... for you then, I'd super highly recommend Cover Fx Powder Fx foundation - which actually has really good buildable coverage as your powder foundation to even out your skin (also has kaolin clay), and MAC Blot Powder as your finishing/mattifying powder (it has kaolin too! And specially formulated to fight oiliness). During the day, you could blot if you see oilies, and repowder with Blot Powder to stay matte.

I'm making these recommendations based on my experience, because I have combination skin and Cover FX is enough to keep my oilies at bay, but Blot powder dries out my skin, so if you have oilier skin in comparison, this may work...

Hope this helps!
