I've been reading this forum on and off for a few years now I think lol. One thing i always seem to notice is the girls don't seem to get bacne. I'm very athletic and used to think my sweating was causing my skin to break out.
Even after I stopped playing sports so much and stayed out of direct sunlight it only seemed to get worse. I think I have control of it now (after reading advice from many members). But why is it girls don't seem to have this problem? I think the top 30 posts are all fellow guys with bacne issues.

It's amazing how well you ladies are able to control it, almost casual if u will. I've only recently been able to grab control and prevent new cysts but even still i have a lot of scars to deal with next. Still haven't decided what I'm going to do about them either. One of you mentioned accutane but I'm not sure I can handle going that route. My face doesnt seem to break out anymore but it's super oily and my cheeks are really dry to the point that they flake immediately if i dont apply extra moisturizer.

Hiya, I too suffer with acne on my back and chest as well as my face.
I also thought it was because I was athletic, apparently not though
I have just completed my first month on roaccutane, and I am really hopeful, it's bad enough having the stuff on your face, but sexy time isn't so sexy when your partner can't touch your body. I have tried everything, EVERYTHING, even turned in to a bit of a hippy and stopped using wash powder, all that accomplished was grubby clothes and grubby skin lol
Good luck!

of course girls have bacne...when the weather gets warmer you will see more of this. Unless people are so self consicous about it they dont wear tank tops and spaghetti straps. I have mild bacne (am female) but usually hide it wih the right cut of clothes. I have been using aha and it helps .

I'm a 23 year old female, and I've had back acne since I was 11. I also break out on my chest, neck, upper stomach, upper arms/shoulders... pretty much every where. I have never worn tanks tops, worn a bikini in public, etc.
I just ordered the regimen system and I am praying that it works, because I have tried everything. OTC, proactiv, clinique, prescription medications, tanning, natural treatments, tea tree oil, vitamins, etc. Nothing has worked. They work for people I know, but I think after 12 years, I'm just resistent.
I'm sure most females just lurk due to insecurities.

Guys tend to take less showers.....
No, I'm totally kidding! It's usually just hormonal. However, I am a girl and I do have the occasional cyst on my back. What's really strange for me though is that instead of full blown bacne I just have a lot of blackheads back there.

Hey I'm a girl and I have bacne. Or rather had bacne. I mostly have red marks and scars now, but they're pretty visible. I got rid of mine on a combination of Dan's regimen (aha + bp) and some shower etiquette (washing body after conditioning as well as being very gentle with my back; ie never scrubbing).

Girls also get bacne. I do too. I mainly have a lot of marks/brown spots from post-acne breakouts on my back. My family doctor had me take Dalacin T for a while, and that did help somewhat. Recently I went to a dermatologist and she put me on Retin-A Tretinoin. It's been five days so far and I hope I can start seeing results from it soon.

I have it and I'm a girl but it only bothers me when I'm wanting to wear something that shows my back / shoulders and then I can't because of bacne. I'm more concerned with clearing acne on my face. It's much easier (for me anyway) to deal with bacne than facial acne.

Girls do get bacne and this is a bioindividual, phenotypic and epigenetically hormonal reaction. A similar answer could be given to the question, "Why do some people eat Ben & Jerry's and McDonalds and never get acne?"
Some people don't get acne because it is a bioindividual, phenotypic and epigenetically hormonal reaction.
