Hi,
I have persistent mild/moderate acne which seems to have started almost overnight about 2 years ago. I'm a male in my mid-thirties and and have an office job which is hard when you see so many people with flawless skin everyday.
I get a few spots everyday, but what I'm really struggling with is the tone of my skin. Around my cheekbones my skin is particularly red/blotchy and I need to cover up the area everyday.
It's a constant frustration and something I don't feel anyone should have to deal with in the adult lives. Are there any effective treatments for this type of skin condition?

Have you seen a doctor? It could be rosacea if it is on your cheeks and red and blotchy. Azelaic acid is great for rosacea and acne and it really takes away all the redness.

When I was dealing with a lot of redness and they thought I had rosacea (...which is what it sounds like you have...) I used Metrogel and it was very cooling and soothing to my skin. You may want to review what type of cleanser you are using. Be sure to use something very gentle and avoid acne products. Can you see a derm for this? It will help --- there are effective treatments. Check out the rosacea posts. I currently use Oracea which helps with the outbreaks and red splotches.
