If you're fasting, your depriving yourself of the nutrients your body needs. If your like me and your acne is caused by a deficiency (zinc) then it might make break you out more. I think you should just drink more water because it does help get rid of toxins in the body.
Your Zinc Def. because of malabsorbtion which is caused by a food allergy.
PS Vit Def does not cause Acne, allergic reaction does.

I don't have any allergies, I became a vegetarian. When I cut out meat from my diet that's when I started getting acne. Now that I'm taking supplements, the zits are gone. And acne is a symptom of zinc deficiency

Did it, never helped. Sorry to say. It made me lose muscle and I felt very weak, that's all. Fasting is great supervised and when one is seriously ill, otherwise not in my view.
It can take a lot of work and practice with fasting before you really begin to see results. I did a handful of extended (5 days to 2 weeks) juice fasts and another handful of juice and water fasts before I really started to see the results in my skin. There can be a lot of detox the body needs to go through... way more than you think. The losing muscle and feeling weak thing happened to me in the beginning too, it's because of the stress hormones being released by 1) the fact that when you're new to fasting it can be a somewhat stressful experience, scary even and 2) the detox itself is stressful on the body. Once you become experienced with fasting and your system is cleaner these things don't happen. I never lose weight or muscle on any of my fasts now, not even when I fast for a week or longer. I also am much stronger and am capable of exercising and being mentally alert during the fast.

Taken from the other post on fasting,
A short term fast is absolutely fine, and emerging research indicates that it's pretty darn healthy. With just a 24 hour fast, you'll get a host of benefits, and it's unlikely that you'll lose much if any muscle mass if your other meals are nutritious, proper amounts of protein, etc. We're talking lowered insulin levels & higher sensitivity, increased growth hormone, increased autophagy (body clean up basically, especially in the brain), increased lifespan, increased BDNF, increased ketone production, and much more. If it's something we evolved doing ( eating/not eating certain foods, being outdoors in the sun, sleeping in darkness, socializing, sex, fasting, exercising, etc), then you can bet that there's a host of benefits to doing it. Doing all of these things as much as you can greatly boosts health and quality of life.
And because of the more efficient hormones/the body working better overall, your absorption and utilization of nutrients would improve.
What are your thoughts on doing a short (3 days max) water fast to cleanse the body and sort of reset everything in hopes of clearing up a few pimples? Have you done it? How did it work for you? Thank youuuuuuuuuu.
Did you ever try fasting? To be clear, if other things aren't going well, like sleep, diet, exercise, low stress, etc, then water fasting may not help your skin so much. It's still good for overall health however, so if it's one thing in your arsenal, better to have it than not! Good luck

But most of those benefits can be achieved via intermittent fasting either via alternating days of very low calorie intake or consuming all your calories per day within a 4-8 hour window leaving a 16 - 20 hour daily fast.

Forgot to mention that, and it's also much easier than a full on water fast! being in ketosis makes it all much easier as well. The benefits are usually higher in a full on fast, but from most of the studies anything beyond 72 hours starts to plateau in terms of hormones and stuff like that. I think once people realize that skipping a meal here and there will not kill you, but actually benefit you, then the fasting phobia starts to go away. I've only gone 36 hours of full on fast, but IF pretty regularly being at school at odd hours etc. The IF works great for post workout meals + maximizing things like HGH and minimizing the damage of any insulin spike, it's been a nice way for me to put on weight exercising without having my skin break out.

Many people that care for animals have them miss a meal once in a while. Mostly wildlife experts.
