So I just received my Paula's Choice 2% Skin Perfecting BHA Liquid in the mail and noticed for the first time Salicylic Acid underneath the name. I had rushed to buy it online after hearing glowing reviews for getting rid of those tiny noninflammed bumps, which i have on edge of my face, chin, and forehead ( closed comedones? ..still new at this).

So after reading Salicylic Acid I grabbed my Clearasil pads (which don't do anything to combat bumps. Right on the back it lables the active ingredient as the same- Salycylic Acid 2%.

Are these products the same? I am new so maybe that's it, but I was thinking BHA was different than Salycylic Acid. My Clearasil pads don't exfoliate at all. I was buying the PC BHA thinking it would get deep in my pores and cause a temporary skin peeling to clear bumps out. Definitely thought it was more intensive as far as OTC than Clearasil.

So are they the same? Should I expect the same results from Paula's Choice 2% BHA as I have had with the Clearasil ( which doesn't do anything)? Or how is PC better? It is certainly more expensive!!

Clearasil Pore Cleansing Pads contain skin-irritating alcohol and menthol, making these 2% salicylic acid pads too irritating and drying for all skin types—plus the pH is too high for the BHA to function as an exfoliant.

Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid (Salicylic Acid) has a pH low enough to enable it to function as an exfoliant and contains not alcohol, menthol or other problem ingredients. So yes, even though the Clearsil pads and the Paula's CHoice 2 % Liquid both have salicylic acid, they are different.

Try it. If it doesn't work for you in a few weeks return it for a full refund. Paula's Choice has a 60 day no questions asked return policy. Just call their customer service.

Good luck!
