I had been using a product similar to Benzamycin, called Zarcad, which has 5% benzoyl peroxide and 3% erythromycin, over the last 3 months in combination with salicylic acid (first salicylic followed by Benzamycin/zarcad) and this had amazing results in my moderate acne, from the 1st few days of application. Now I decided to substitute Zarcad with a product that has only benzoyl peroxide to avoid a potential antibiotic resistance to erythromycin. I bought Clinique's Acne Solutions Clearing Moisturizer oil-free which contains 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, so less than the other product. However, after applying it for 3 days, today I am really red on the areas applied, and its itchying and really warm...
Is it possible that I have an allergic reaction to benzoyl after 3 months of use? Or maybe the erythromycin, with its anti-inflammatory properties, prevented this redness from happening before?do you have any suggestions if I should try the product for longer time or better to go back to the prescribed one?
