Hi everyone!

My family doctor recently prescribed me a 1 month supply of Minocycline and i take 1 pill daily. It has been almost a week and so far so good- my acne is calming down and I am not feeling any side effects. However, I've seen a lot of posts saying how the drug clears people up but after a while they become immune to the antibiotic or when they stop, their acne comes back even worse. This has me very worried! What can i do to prevent this from happening?
If this does not entirely clear up my moderate-severe acne then, i might need to start considering accutane.

If this is your first time taking Minocycline, I would say the odds are good that you have many clear days ahead before you grow resistant to the antibiotic. When I first began taking Minocycline, I had completely clear skin for over a year. When it stopped working, I got switched to something else, but eventually came back to Minocycline with great results again. Sometimes you can come back to it after a period of time and it will be effective once more. And if you're just starting to venture out into the antibiotic world, you have so many options out there to find ones that will clear you up in addition to Minocycline.

Unfortunately there is nothing you can really do to prevent yourself from becoming immune to an antibiotic besides only taking it for a very short duration and that won't be long enough to clear you up and keep you clear.

I'm happy to hear you're seeing positive results so far, I hope it continues!

Good luck :)
