After some experimentation with different vitamins for my acne I came upon zinc picolinate. I purchased a bottle of Country Life Zinc Picolinate a few weeks ago, began taking 100 mg a day, and it cleared almost all active acne within a few days (I have mild acne, usually 1-3 actives at any time). Any since then I have tried to use other kinds of zinc (even another brand's zinc picolinate), my face worsens. I looked at the Country Life bottle and it said the ingredients are 25 mg of zinc and 20 mg of calcium. I know calcium is supposed to interfere with zinc absorption, but it got me wondering if the calcium was helping since this was the only supplement that seemed to work. I haven't been able to find anything online about this.
Does anyone have any knowledge of a calcium deficiency causing acne or calcium supplements aiding acne?

i havent heard anything about calcium and i havent really looked in to it. but given the facts that you said then it seems like its working. Have you tried takeing a purely calcium supplement to see how it works?

Every time I've taken zinc, whether it be picolinate or gluconate, nothing good happened!

I picked up a Homeopathic pill at Whole Foods. It is composed of Calcarea Sulphurica, which I think is calcium. A lot of people say that homeopathic medicine does not work however it helped me get rid of my severe acne, so I will continue taking it. You might want to look into that!
