Hey guys, this is my first post on this website so i'm hoping i can get some good advice. My skin started to get pimples in 7th grade (im in 9th now) i still have pimples i guess they are not as bad says my parents but i have now got even more problems. Last summer i used clean and clear face wash that had 10% Benzoyle peroxide and it dried out my skin to the point of flaking. I stopped using that product and I now use a cetephil mild cleanser and it is much more gentle. But the problem is, is that my skin is dehydrated. My skin feels very tight and it hurts to stretch my mouth and forehead. When my head and mouth are stretched it leaves a red spot around the area for a short period of time. Also since my skin is lacking the moisture on my face my body tries to compensate by over producing oily making my skin look oily but still dehydrated. This makes it very hard for me to moisturize because my moisturizer (cetephil moisturizing lotion) leaves my face looking oily. Here are some factors to take in. I live where it is cold during the winter, I am a 15 year old guy, and I heard taking too many hot showers can mess up your skin. For the past 3 months i have been taking 2 20 minute hot showers a day. I do this because my face gets oily during the day so i try to wash it off. Someone please help me fix these issues. I haven't had good skin for 3 years and its really bugging me. It seems like everything isn't working and no one has the similar problem. I turned to this website looking for some success so will someone please help me sort this out i have no where else to turn

All I can offer is advice for what helped me. Nothing works. just lessens. It's mainly your diet. Milk is what causes 90% of my acne. I just use Neosporin, or triple antibiotic ointment. Just rub it on my face, but not enough to look like I have an oil factory on my face. It prevents oils from forming in my pores. Just try not drinking milk, or coffee, or oily foods. Just for three days. If you see no improvement, it's something else. Good luck.

Maybe you should change the moisturizer and actually is strong enough for the winter/ cold weather. I actually live in a cold place as well and tend to have flakes on my skin as a result from dryness. : /

To be honest the best way to treat acne is to expect nothing to work. That way if you continually trying products until (slight possibility) you find something that works, you won't be as discouraged about something not working. Most people do say your acne is not that bad, but they don't have any. So they don't usually understand what you are going through. Which is why it was so hard for me. I was always told it's not that bad but I had to suffer through it while everyone around me had perfect skin and even those who ate less healthy then me, or spent tons of time in the sun, or drank 5 glasses of milk per day.
It just flat out sucks to have to suffer from acne.

Try out T-N-T ( tea tree and Tamanu oil) it is so helpful for my skin especially with reducing redness and healing scars. It comes in an oil and yes it moisturizes while the tea tree oil dries out the zits. I buy it at mybluedolphinsoap google it. Nothing works for everyone but this works forme. Just sayin!

Yea we are all different.
Acne is pretty much caused by diet.
I know a lot of people who gets acne due to drinking milk. But I don't break out when I drink milk, or just not much change.
However, I must be allergic or just senstive to certain foods. If I eat Pizza, MC Donalds and lots of other junk food, its 90% likely that I will break out in the next few days.

STOP TAKING HOT SHOWERS! Your stripping your skin from the oils, making it dry and irritated, which makes your skin produce more oil. I started washing my face with cool water, and i noticed a huge difference. My skin is no longer tight and dry, it looks very healthy and my oil is down 50%. When you wash your face(WITH COOL WATER), use your hand to gently remove any excess oil and dirt, then use your cleanser. After i cleanse, i splash my face with cold water, and let it dry.
-GOOD LUCK!

Hot showers 2x a day is the first main problem. STOP!!!! Haha. But really, you are just doing damage to your skin, especially since you say it's dehydrated already. You are making the condition much worse than it needs to be. Hot water does not wash off oil. It stimulates more in a lot of cases because you've just taken all the moisture out of your skin, which is different than oil. So first of all, no more hot showers. And if you do take one, don't put your face in the water. I never do, and my skin doesn't get red and dry because of it.
Second,
Cetaphil moisturizer is not a good choice for your skin type/problems. Are you open to recommendations?
