Hello my lovely people Posted Image Ok so had nhs dermatology appointment this afternoon, she was reluctant to give me the accutane, saying my skin was good until i took off my camouflage foundation (the wonders of make up lol!) then she saw what I was talking about,

I am starting the accutane on Thursday however I want to be extra prepared and just wanted to know what products you would recommend?

Is it ok to get a clinique comfort moisturizer or will it not be enough?

Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated thanks guys xoxoxo

You're going to need a good moisturizer, I used Pond's Dry Skin Cream while i was on accutane and it worked perfectly for me. I would wake up with red, peeling skin and all i had to do i put on the moisturirzer and my skin would look perfect. You're probably going to get back aches during your course so weight lifting is a big no-no. Also, chapstick.

Hi!

Just started Accutane (or Claravis) a little less than two weeks ago (will be two weeks this Thursday actually, hehe! We're so close!)

I didn't start seeing side effects until about a week into it... just started IB, so be prepared (althugh some people never get it).

Things you DEFINITELY need -- heavy duty lip balm! Aquaphor seems to be the lip moisturizer of choice here, but I also really like Carmex, Vaseline, and Neosporin Lip Therapy lip balms. The EOS ones aren't bad either, and also a few from Sephora are quite nice and tinted! xx

Also people seem to like Cetaphil cleansers and moisturizers for the skin. I'm using Aveeno at the moment since I prefer a foam cleanser but that's just me! I'm also using coconut oil as my moisturizer since my skin seems to agree with that more Posted Image)

Also keep hydrated, make sure you eat your pills with food (what's your dosage?), don't take vitamins with Vitamin A (since Accutane is basically overdosing your body with Vitamin A), rest a lot, eat healthy foods, exercise, you know the drill! Posted Image

Also, what kind of makeup do you use? I totally know what you mean about people thinking you have not bad skin... UNTIL THE MAKEUP COMES OFF! I can't wait for the day I don't need to wear ANYTHING on my skin! (funnily enough I just purchased foundation today. haha.) This is because I'm used to wearing oil-free and matte foundations since I usually have oily skin... but now Accutane is giving me weird dry/combo/oily skin so I switched to another foundation for drier skin.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Thanks! I think im going to get some aquaphor for the lips and take a look at the cetaphil, may also take a look at eucerin too! I have some pure virgin coconut oil so I might use that too if its working for you?

Im dreading the initial breakout and im not a very lucky person so im pretty sure i will get the mother of all breakouts lol!

Im using Dermablend Corrective Foundation (it covers everything and never looks too heavy) i then set with mac invisible blot powder! Im not sure if and when Im going to change my foundation for a drier skin type as i got so used to just looking at oil free stuff! Might take a look at Bobbi Brown as they have some good ones for dry skins.

Keep me updated with accutane journey,we sound pretty much in the same boat :) xoxo

Definitely get aquaphor for your lips, I'm also using Vaseline Lip therapy which I love. Cetaphil moisturizer is definitely my favorite and the cetaphil gently skin cleanser. I also use Aveeno Active Naturals skin brightening daily scrub in the morning, its a very very gentle scrub that helps get rid of any dry skin.

I use the CeraVe Cleanser and Moisturizer, and I haven't really had any issues keeping my skin hydrated. My lips are peeling so bad...I too use Aquaphor lip treatment...I'm currently interested in trying something else if that will help.

I am taking Fish Oil and Biotin, not too sure if they are making much of a difference yet though.
