I've had chest/shoulder/back acne since puberty, some 25 years ago. Tetracycline worked well in my teens. Developed cystic acne in my early 20's, which Accutane cured. But the body acne returned. Only a mild case, though the back of my scalp just above the hairline could get embarrasingly bad at times (stupid thing to get embarrased about).

Found this forum, and another post talking about PanOxyl, so gave it a shot. And, WOW. Great results. Had to share with anyone on here in the same boat.

I shower twice a day, morning/night. I've been using Dial for men (because my masculinity is threatened by soaps with moisturizers marketed to women) as an initial, overall soap, with a wash cloth. Had used Zest which worked just as well, though it was a little more drying. My thinking here is that bacteria is responsible for the acne, so using regular bar soap shouldn't matter. The results back this up. So, it's cheap/it does the job. My hair is crew cut, so I use the bar soap on my scalp also -- wash and rinse a few times, my scalp being pretty oily, and same for my face.

Then, I rinse the wash cloth, and grab the PanOxyl bar, and use just enough for a light lather (stuff is pricey). I wash my upper body, and my scalp, leaving it on maybe a minute or so.

Simple routine that probably runs counter to some of the more strict regimens around here, but it's actually working very nicely, and has been for a couple of months now.

Have you had any issues with the 10% BP body wash bleaching your towels, bed sheets or clothes? That was my biggest issue with the topical BP for the face. Interesting... I'll have to look into this soap.

i have tried the body bar and all it did was severly dry out my skin. i had severe flakyness and on top of that it didn't get rid of my body acne. it was so uncomfortable to have loads of pimples and dry skin on my back, it hurt to lay down. since my body acne isn't as bad as it once was, i might give this another go. it seems to work wonders for alot of people.

It's a body wash so you just lather it and leave it on for 2-5 minutes before rinsing in the shower. I do use a white towel to dry off and don't get dressed till after my skin air dries. I didn't have any problems with bleaching as long as I rinsed it off well. The brand I used was Panoxyl and I got it at Walgreens. Not everyone carries it. Good luck!

I need to update this to report that what is really working for me is both the Panoxyl soap ALONG WITH DRASTICALLY REDUCING MY DAIRY INTAKE. It took some time for me to determine this. Neither are as effective on their own as the combination of both.
