Starting New Diet Soon: Any Tips?

4 posts in this topic

Hi, I have mild but persistent pityrosporum folliculits and I've tried everything but change my diet and oral antifungals and Accutane (the oral meds being the last resort). My condition is so mild that I don't think it's worth the side effects to take them. I realize after all I have read about PF the only thing I haven't done is change my diet. I'm going to start the Candida diet (which is similar to the acne diet) and I'm freaking out. I never had to diet before except cut out certain foods and alcohol when I was pregnant.

I was wondering if anyone has any tips out there? Should I start slow cutting out sugars and stuff one at a time or have any of you gone cold turkey. Luckily, my husband is going to join me (though the man has perfect skin UGH) for support and for our general health. I have never denied myself much and I know it's going to be mentally and physically tough.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! Thank!

For me, it was easier cutting out sugar cold turkey. I'm that person who can't have a little piece of chocolate, I want the whole bar rolleyes.gif I didn't cut out gluten at the same time though (don't know if you're planning to cut that out). After about a month i cut out pasta, potatoes and rice and about a month after that I cut out bread.

It's not thát hard though and I do sometimes eat something bad like on a birthday or in a restaurant, but I try to just eat a small amount.

It's sweet of your husband he's going to join you, that will definitely make it easier. Good luck :)

Thanks, I believe you're right. I can't have just one piece of chocolate either. I'll try that. Cutting out sugar and gluten first sounds good and then bread last. I think it'll be less of a shock. Were you able to stick with it or after your skin improved do you go back? I read I could go back 2-6 months after the folliculitis yeast is killed off and then introduce new foods slowly and one at a time. I do not want to go back to being a junk food addict again. And how long did it take to see results in your skin?
