Hi people,

It's been a long time since I've posted here but I never forget the help I received and the comfort these forums gave me back when I really struggled with my acne.

After years of suffering and trying close to everything known to man I made the tough decision to go on accutane, it worked great for me and I was clear for around 4 years. However over the past two years or so my acne got progressively worse and i could tell things were going in the same direction as last time.

This resulted in me starting my second course of accutane, which I'm 4 weeks away from finishing and I'm almost clear, I've been on 80mg for 5 months.

I just wanted to ask if their are any things I should be doing in the coming months/years to ensure I don't have to go through this again (I'm now 24). After my initial accutane course I kept using acne.org cleanser and still do to this day, moisturising after every wash and taking good care of my skin. Should I try not moisturising this time around to ensure the oil doesn't become a problem again?

Hey there, I am in the same boat as you. Round 2, 25 years old. 80mg. I am only 120 lbs though so I'm hoping I won't be on it for as long as I was the first time. I was on Accutane for 6 months the first time at 60mg.

But I wasn't even clear for a year after I was off...I am really hoping for at least, a 4 year remission

I'm also about to go on a 2nd round of accutane... If the doctor lets me.

I finished my 5 month treatment 6 months ago, and the last month I have been gaining my acne back. Its not as bad as it was before... but its still coming back

Is accutane better the second time around? Are the side affects for tolerable, and how is the initial break out?
