Morning using cetaphil cleanser, alternatively using shaving cream sometimes. I find no difference in either.
What's important for me is to be gentle with your skin while shaving and applying very little pressure. Electrics doesn't cause much irritation me too, although not a very close shave.

If you're going to shave, always shave after a shower, your skin is cleaned up and your hair is more elastic and softer, so a better a shave. If you use a pre shave cream/ oil even better.

Nobody shaving DURING showers? I have a water proof electric razor so I might try this!

At night because I use shitty blades and no cream so it irritates my face which lasts for a couple hours.

Only at night, after I either shower or wash my face. My face is always red after I shave so night time is best.
