Day 34

The dryness isn't really that bad but it is spreading to my body. My chest and my back get really dry now and I need to apply lotion. My lips are still chapped and dry. Since my dose has been increased I am even more tired and my foggy headedness has returned full force. I'm hoping that will go away once my body get used to it again. One thing that has been happening that is kind of annoying is almost like minor visual disturbances. That might even be too strong of a word. It's like my eyes are playing tricks on me and I see random white lights in my peripheral vision. It will either be little white specks or it will seem like something is moving. This just started when my dose was increased. But I'm going to ignore it for now and hope it goes away. Its really not that bad. But my skin looks great!!! I just hope I don't break out again from this increased dose... I shall see!

Hopefully those side effects will ease off soon. Make sure you moisturize your body well! I have a little eczema on my stomach because I didn't moisturize well enough. My derm gave me a prescription cream (Vanos) for it and it is working.

My derm gave me a prescription for Neosalus. He said it's a really good cream. I don't have eczema but he said it will work for my face. Did your derm up your dose?

No, she's keeping me on 40mg for now. She might up it next month.

Well yesterday was one of my best friend's 30th birthday. I was out and awake all night long. I brought my Claravis to her place but of course forgot to take it in the middle everything that was going on. Once we got to the club I realized I didn't take it and there was nothing I could do. So when we got back to her place at 4am I took it. Then I took the next one at 2pm. Today my skin is reddish and sunburned-ish. And I wasn't in the sun yesterday. It's definitely from messing around with when I take my doses. I guess I took 2 doses too close together. Oh well. I didn't drink any alcohol yesterday which was weird. But I don't want to screw up my liver any worse than the isotretinoin is doing. I am going to take the dose for this evening like I normally do. Then tomorrow will be back to normal. I hope it's ok and I didn't mess anything up too bad.

Day 42

Wow time is going by fairly quickly. No change really. Just dry skin and more dry skin and lips. Now my whole body gets very dry within 5 minutes of getting out of the shower and my whole body requires lotion now. But that's about it. Nothing else is different. I still get tired. I am still thirsty most of the time. But nothing I can't manage. My skin looks good.

Time is going faster now! I also need to lotion my entire body with a good lotion these days. Glad your skin is looking good!

My nose is soo dried out. Uhhh. I started putting Aquaphor around the opening of my nose because it's starting to hurt. It feels like the dryness goes all the way up my nose and up into my head behind my eyes. My eyes are dry and my mouth is dry. I'm thinking of steaming up my bathroom by turning the shower on hot and just sitting in the bathroom like a steam room and just breathe in the moisture. I'm also going to start using the humidifier at night now. Usually I don't have to do this until it's like full blown winter outside but I'm just too dry.

Jesoli ~ how is your skin looking? Mine still has like one spot that shows up every now and then but for it only being 1 and a half months so far I'd say it's much improved already.

I developed a nodule on my chin last weekend, but it surfaced and peeled away rather quickly. It is almost gone now & that spot is really dry. I have 2 smaller zits too, but they are going away fast. Now my skin just seems to peel like crazy if I get any sort of blemish. The rest of my face isn't really peeling, it's less dry & looks pretty good :). My nose is also really dry! It has bled a little bit for the last couple of days. Not anything major, just enough to tinge any snot that I may blow out of my nose. (sorry if that's TMI). The steam might be a good idea & I think I'm going to try that too. I normally use a Neti pot (for seasonal allergies), but I have been slacking on that lately. I should probably start back with it to keep the inside of my nose moist.

Nah it's not TMI ha ha I don't care. My joint pain has started!! Not happy about that. It's my left hip. Like just the joint. It hurts more at night probably after me walking around all day or whatever. And I think the memory fuzziness is getting worse. Sigh... Going for my next round of blood work tomorrow. I can't believe it's time again already. I haven't had anymore nosebleeds or even anything close. And yes taking a hot shower definitely helps with my nose but then it hurts my skin lol. I can't win. Oh well. So far everything is still tolerable.

Day 58

I had my derm appointment on Tuesday and I'm still healthy and everything is fine so I got my 3rd month supply of Claravis. The only thing that's different now is that I have bad left hip joint pain. It gets pretty bad at times. I can't walk fast or I'll feel a random knife like pain in my hip. It used to only hurt at night now it's there all the time. It just varies in intensity. I have a pretty high pain tolerance so I can take it, but it just stinks to have to deal with it. Leaning over and picking stuff up is hard and I have a big bed that's kinda high off the floor and it hurts getting into it. But whatev... I'm dealing with it. I just keep thinking of the big picture.

Well even though it sounds like you're getting some stronger side effects, the good news is that you're going to start your 3rd month. That means it's time to start seeing some real results. I'm on day 53, and I have my derm appointment in 6 days. I think I've turned the corner now and my acne is starting to improve!

Thanks so much for responding sd85! I love hearing from other people. I'm so glad that your acne is starting to improve! We are almost at the same point.. only 5 days apart. My acne actually got much better a month ago. It's still remarkably better. I had some ice cream and milk several days ago and that made me break out a little but not bad at all. I am definitely someone who can't have too much dairy. The hormones in the milk (and I guess the ice cream too) makes me break out. Do you have any trigger foods that make you break out? Good luck at your next derm appointment!

I don't think there is anything that really causes me to break out. I don't even have worse acne around 'that time of the month.' My skin is (or should I say was) extremely oily which led to huge amounts of clogged pores, blackheads, you name it. My skin is not oily any more and is completely normal! I can go all day without having to feel like I need to wash it.

My acne would get a little worse around that time but not much. And yes I agree about the oily face. I love how it doesn't get oily anymore.. I prefer dry skin! Yes I hated having to wash it half way through the day because it was too oily. Wearing powder makeup helped to keep it under control somewhat but still. Now sometimes I have to put more moisturizer on halfway through the day but I prefer it that way. What side effects have you felt so far? How many mg's are you on?

The only things that I've had are dry lips and small dry patches on my hands. I've been on 30 mgs each day.

I'm on 60 mg's a day. My derm said I'm staying at this amount until I'm done.
