BenzaClin and Moisturizer?

10 posts in this topic

Okay So my doctor prescribed Benza Clin today and in a few weeks i am going to see a dermatologist, I used this stuff before when I had mild acne and I remember it being drying (because It's mostly BP) What moisturizer can I use with it to stop the dryness that will not interfere with the medication?

My Regimen:

Morning: Wash hands with non-medicated soap

Apply Spectro Jel cleanser for blemish-prone skin

Rinse off and wipe off then apply BenzaClin 1-5% to problem areas

Apply Spectro Hydracare Moisturizer for Combination skin

Night: Wash hands with non-medicated soap

Apply Spectro Jel cleanser for blemish-prone skin

Rinse off and wipe off then apply BenzaClin 1-5% to problem areas

Apply Spectro Hydracare Moisturizer for Combination skin (Same as Morning)

Diet:

I usually drink a lot of water, I eat a lot of fruits like apples, pears, bananas etc, I try to eat a lot of vegetables. I eat carrots everyday and I try to stay away from candy and I haven't drank any Cola or Pepsi for a year!

Yes, that was my New Year's resolution :D

hey, well you should give everyone a chance, your post has been up for less than a day, people will be at work, sleeping, taking care of their kids, give us a chance to get to our computers and find your post and answer it lol. anyway you could moisturize with jojoba oil, i use complex-e which is a very light and basic moisturizer or you could always ask your derm/doctor/pharmacist to recommend a product for you, that's how i found my cleanser :) good luck!

You could cleanse, lightly moisturise with jojoba, let it soak in for at least 10 minutes and then gently apply benzaclin before bed. Aveeno is another good moisturiser, as is simple or nivea. Always look for an oil free one though.

This is a good structure - you can substitute the b.p. with benzaclin and still follow it: http://www.acne.org/regimen.html

Hope this helps :)

Thanks, isabellalove. so this is what I'm going to do:

Cleanse with a gentle cleanser (Spectro Jel)

Rinse off and wipe off

Then should I use BenzaClin before or after I use a moisturizer?

After, is best because it can sink in unimpeded. Cleanse, moisturise, wait 10 minutes, then apply benzaclin - wonderful :)

Do you know any moisturizers that are gentle non-comednegenic moisturizers for when applying Benzaclin?

I disagree with moisturizing first, I'm a cosmetician and I've always been told by other professionals to apply serums and treatments first, you always want to apply skincare in order from the most important to least important. :)
