Vitamin Combo Help

Well I've been reading this forum for some time now and finally decided to join. I'm 33 and have suffered with acne and very oily skin for over 20 years and have yet to find anything that helps.

I've decided to give B5 (5g) a shot along with a few other vitamins and wondered whether anyone had any opinions:

Morning

4 x B5 (500mg)

1 x B3 Nicotinamide (250mg)

1 x L-Cysteine (500mg)

Afternoon

3 x B5 (500mg)

2 x Zinc (15mg)

1x L-Cysteine (500mg)

1 x Busy B (B1 100mg, B2 100mg, B3 Niacin 100mg, B5 100mg, B6 100mg, B12 500ug, C 500mg, Folic Acid 400 ug, Biotin 50ug, Choline Bitartrate 50mg, Citrus Bioflavonoids 50mg, Inositol 50mg, PABA 50mg)

Evening

3 x B5 (500mg)

1 x B3 Nicotinamide (250mg)

1 x L-Cysteine (100mg)

1 x Selenium (200mcg)

2 x Evening Primrose (1000mg)

I plan on starting this routine today and I'll let you know how I get on but I'd appreciate any advice. Is there anything else I should be taking? Are there any of the above that I don't really need to be taking?

Definitely start taking Vitamin E! It's wonderful for the skin :)

I heard Vitamin A is great too

I also started taking Vitamin B5, just 1000mg a day, but I see you're taking 5000mg. Vitamin B5 is really good, but if you take a lot like that, it could cause hair loss :/

Other than that, your vitamin list sounds awesome!!

Oh! I just heard of something called Borba Skin Clearing Pills. You can get them at Walgreens, and they are supposed to naturally clear up acne.


INTERNAL DAILY TREATMENT:

1. multivitamin

2. Omega 3

3. CoQ10

4. 1000mg Vitamin C

EXTERNAL DAILY TREATMENT:

1. Basis Vitamin Bar

2. Neutrogena Fight and Fade Gel as a spot/scar treatment

STOPPING BAD HABITS:

1. I am trying my best not to eat junk food.

2. I'm trying not to pop blemishes or pick skin...

So far, I've been clearing up pretty well :)

Thanks for your reply. I've started my routine today but I made a couple of minor changes as you'll see below.

Needless to say no noticable effects yet.

Breakfast

2 x B5 (500mg)

1 x Siberian Ginseng (1500mg)

1 x Evening Primrose (1000mg)

Lunch

2 x B5 (500mg)

1 x Zinc (50mg)

1 x Copper (3mg)

1 x L-Cysteine (500mg)

1 x Evening Primrose (1000mg)

1 x B-100 Complex (B1 100mg, B2 100mg, B3 Niacin 100mg, B5 100mg, B6 100mg, B12 100ug, Folic Acid 100 ug, Biotin 0.1mg, Choline Bitartrate 100mg, Citrus Bioflavonoids 50mg, Inositol 100mg, PABA 30mg)

Dinner

2 x B5 (500mg)

1 x B3 Nicotinamide (250mg)

1 x L-Cysteine (500mg)

1 x Evening Primrose (1000mg)

1 x Selenium (200mcg)

Supper

2 x B5 (500mg)

1 x Valarian (1600mg)

Night - If I Wake Up

2 x B5 (500mg)

I'll keep you updated but if anyone has had any experience with a similar routine or has any opinions please let me know.

2 Week Update

Firstly I should point out that the routine as listed above only really starts today because I was waiting for a couple of the supplements to arrive. I have been following the above routine with the exception of B3 Nicotinamide (250mg), L-Cysteine (500mg) because they only arrived today.

Until today I have been feeling pretty low because my skin has been worse over the past 10 days and I was losing faith in these supplements. However, I know these things take time to get into your system and I also know that many people have had an initial breakout when taking a high dose of B5 so I've stuck with.

Today is the first day where I can say I've seen a slight improvement. Most of the initial breakout are starting to heal or die back and although my skin is still greasy I think it may be ever so slightly less so than before.

I will keep you updated and let you know if things continue to improve or if this proves to be a false dawn.

4 Week Update

It's been 4 weeks since I started the full routine listed in post 3 of this thread & 6 weeks since I started taking some of the supplements.

I think I've continued to see marginal improvement. Yes I still get a few spots but not that many and very few of the big painful ones that hang around for weeks on end. I'm not actually convinced my skin is any less greasy though but maybe I'm not taking a high enough dose of B5 to make a difference to that.

Overall I am fairly pleased and encouraged enough to continue for a few more weeks at least.

I'll write another update soon.

-VITAMIN A [COD LIVER OIL] (10,000 I.U.) 1X/DAY

-CHROMIUM PICOLINATE (200MCG) 3X/DAY

-ZINC GLUCONATE (50MG) 1X/DAY

-VITAMIN E (400I.U.) 1X/DAY

I PLAN ON BUYING VITAMIN C 1000MG FOR 2X/DAY.

NOTE: I LIVE IN PHILIPPINES. I HAVE MODERATE TO SEVERE ACNE.

[ I HOPE THIS WORKS BECAUSE I'M JUST A TEENAGER AND I'M NOT THAT RICH. ALL THIS STUFF MADE ME SAD, DISAPPOINTED, DEPRESSED AND BROKE. ]

I WILL GIVE UPDATES ON HOW WELL OR BAD THIS HAS WORKED FOR ME.
