Okay, so I've been trying Vit D for almost 3 weeks, and I went from 5000IU to 20,000IU, but to no avail - my acne is still being persistent. I'm trying to have hope in this and am getting the liquid version... just ordered from iherb, and I'll see what happens.
Just wondering, is it really what it seems - that everyone who tried Vit D had no more breakouts?? I find this puzzling because I live in a country with sun everyday, and I honestly feel like Vit D deficiency or whatsoever is causing my acne... and its the only thing that I haven't tried before I embark on Accutane...
Has Vitamin D not worked for anyone?

Ooook since you either didn't see/ignored my reply to you in the other vitamin d post I'll copy and paste it here:
llhhk,
You said you live in Singapore and it's very sunny there, correct? What made you think you may be vitamin D3 deficient in the first place?
There is no ONE cure for acne, it's about having a healthy body and lifestyle. If you're deficient in a certain vitamin then taking that supplement should certainly help, but only if you're deficient.
You may be deficient in something else, but since you live somewhere sunny I'd make the assumption that you already got enoguh vitamin d3 naturally from the sun and therefore of course taking it by supplement wouldn't help.
You cant just take one supplement and have it clear your face up. You have to have a very healthy diet and lifestyle and get 99% of your vitamins naturally by food. Only take a supplement in something you're truly deficient in, otherwise it could do more harm than good.
For me it's only helped, because I havent been taking it long enough for it to be possible to actually clear my face completely. It's only been a week taking it and I am only taking 4000 IU per day. And we have no sun here so I'm getting nothing naturally. I haven't gotten a new pimple since the day after I started it. See my log in my signature for details.

I have to agree. Vitamin D is just part of the solution. It's helped me, but I made many other changes before adding Vitamin D.

I've tried most changes.
Here are some that made my family members think I was mad:
1. Raw Food Diet (9 months NO cheating) - Lost so much weight... and developed all sorts of deficiencies...
2. Regular Diet but NO salt & oil, only STEAM method of cook - Did not eat out at all... still broke out even though my skin got ALOT better (15 months)
I take a wholefood multivit from Garden of Life, so I don't think I should be missing other vitamins like B Complex/Zinc etc which are recommended for acne.
I swim
Bad Habits: Sleeping late, and stress (however, these are inevitable for my age)

And I have taken the whole gamut of vitamins - Alpha Lipoic / Candida Cleanse / Liver Cleanse / Parasite Cleanse / Kidney Cleanse / HCL / Pygeum / Saw Palmetto / Vitex... Basically EVERYTHING I've tried - ALL TOPICS ALL BRANDS - LASER.
Nothing. Nothing has worked for my sebum and my acne.
I didn't feel like I needed to list all of them down because I thought it would be expected that these has been tried and the whole "HEALTHY" lifestyle thing.
I think people have to stop taking their experience as the MODEL for curing acne. Many of my friends stay out late everyday and eat junk food outside EVERYDAY since they were young and only have 1 zit / month. I'm not even kidding. I'm sure you know a couple who are like that.
So stop assuming that I'm fickle and I'm not trying "hard" enough, because I can tell you, I've probably tried more stuff and invest more $ into this war than most people who just dabble with a little here and there.
I can even challenge others to name me one thing that I haven't tried. I know what I haven't tried - Accutane. Why? Because I wanted to avoid the negative side effects obviously. But, it has come to a pt whereby I have exhausted all my options, and have took the holistic route for 2 years and made myself socially awkward when I'm out in order to see if I can actually do away with Acne.
Stop hoping that holistic methods, or "alternative" methods work - they do for those with mild acne... in any case, they wouldn't be called "alternative" if they worked.

Sorry for that tirade, I just felt like I needed to give a background of where I was coming from. In any case, thanks for informing me of your progress with Vit D...
However, I'm entering university soon and I don't think its viable for me to keep up with a holistic diet all the time etc... and I was looking for a cure... not exactly a 80% recovery because I've been there, and I just didn't like the fact that I still had to deal with flare ups here and there when I was putting in so much effort.

WOW. Freak out much?
I didn't say you were fickle, or not trying hard enough. All I'm trying to say is maybe you're not vitamin d deficient so maybe thats why taking a supplement wouldn't work?? It's not really a hard concept.
There is NO cure for acne. Nothing! If you are prone to it then you will never be cured unless you outgrow it, but many dont.
And alternative methods aren't called alternative because they don't work, they're called alternative because they aren't mainstream big pharma methods...
I have far more acne than 'mild' and alternative methods, worked amazing for me. Even AFTER accutane failed.
It's just so ridiculous that you'd be so abrasive to someone trying to answer your question about vitamin d not working, and then mock people who use holistic methods just because popping a vitamin didn't work for you.
ANYWAYS! Whatever, clearly not worth my time.

Well, I guess I just got really affected... I apologize if you felt that my post was abrasive in anyway. I see all these people on Youtube praising the laurels of Accutane and I'm like... maybe I should just take it you know?

I've learned that in acne disease what works for one could be ineffecive (or make WORSE the situation) for another...
For example, Zinc improves skin condition in a lot of people with my acne, but in my case aggravate it!
So, as GreenEyes said, there's no ONE cure for acne, simply because every acne is different.
You have to TRY, until you found what works FOR YOU.
