I thought the documentary was very good. I am just grateful that some of the drug's dangers, for the bulk of the hour, were on TV for people to see. That was the main thing. Some of the good things to come out of the documentary were the mention of side effects being permanent and life long, and the absolute doom and gloom mentality that was mentioned in the interview with Stefan. Not everyone knows this, or understand how people feel who suffer from the drug. Like others have said Stefan, you came across very well and did a good job! The scenes with Jesse's family were very emotional, especially the ending.

Thanks James.
I'm glad you liked it.
I agree it was very emotional and hard-hitting.
People will certainly think twice about allowing their kids (or themselves) to swallow this shit.
It will make a difference.
History has been changed a little because of this.
I hope this isn't the end of our story, because we all need some help x

Encountered extreme dryness (skin eyes), joint pain and brain fog while on it. Dryness, including gums/gum recession has persisted ever since then. Brain fog a and joint pain has come and gone in a cyclical manner. Sexual side effects, eye floaters, and hair loss have been recent and latent phenomenon.

Standard Process is awesome! Been taking oculotrophin for 4 days now. Floaters are off and on, perhaps a bit better because they were previously constant. But the main thing noticed is that the dry sensation has been hugely reduced since I started... like basically nonexistent. I am a believer in SP's "like heals like" philosophy... Think it'd be cool if more people here tried their products... they have great details about them on their website. You can even search products by ingredient.

Still getting along well with a drop of peppermint oil in my water when i have a tummy flare up. Flare ups are in control.

Do any of you personally know, or have read about peoples side effects that cleared by themselves in time?

I've searched google but havent found any success stories which is really disheartening.

It's been over 2 years since i took accutane and my joints are killing me and my hair, face and body and are extremely dry (I could list a whole page of other side effects i've had but i'm not in the mood to do so).

I already take glucosamine, chondroitin, msm, hyaluronic acid and drink lots of water, all which seem to have abosolutely no effect.

The internet is littered with stories of people suffering from all types of illnesses and disorders and what they do to cope. Many times I read these stories and wonder if they maybe took Accutane in their youth. People may be suffering greatly and not even attribute their illness as being a side effect of accutane.

For example, I recently stumbled across this guy's blog (this is from 2007) who dveloped an "incurable" autoimmune disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis and he blogs about how he was able to reverse his state of degeneration. It's interesting to note he mentions taking accutane at one point in his life and you have to wonder if that could be a primary cause of his autoimmune disease. Who knows!

Short summary of what he did:
-Whole natural diet (low sugar vegan)
-Juice feasting
-Chlorella
-MSM
-Chanca piedra tea
-Coffee enemas
-Yoga
-Skin brushing
-Drinking more water
-Deep breathing

Great documentary! I plan to show it to my mother soon as she believe the doctors have all the answers and said I was being silly when I was against going for more rounds of antibiotics, its not that simple. (Ro)accutane is not something I am going to look into unless I had thrown everything and the kitchen sink at clearing my skin - and that will take an incredibly long time, who knows by then it might have cleared up on its own anyway...

Thank for your reply but i really want to see posts about people recovering from extreme dryness and joint pain all thoughout the body.

I was reading the topix Accutane forums about post Accutane damage and a user by the name of NCC seemed quite knowledgeable about Accutane and its side side effects but didn't offer a resolution.

Everyone here has probably heard of NCC.
He's called Nathan Carr and supposedly got some research done on the mechanism of Accutane.

Anyway...
I'm just writing with a suggestion for ALL of you.
Yeah, that includes you!
**Points Finger**

We'll probably never get a documentary surrounding this drug again.
Since it aired, my YouTube channel has been getting more hits.
This means one thing.
We need to take action.
Well, you all do. I'm doing my bit ;)

This won't last long.

A week, maybe two.
If you hate Roche as much as I do, you'll jump on board.
You know where I'm headed... I've said this before.
I just don't get why nobody has ever listened.

MAKE A YOUTUBE VIDEO RESPONSE.
Help me to show the World that this drug is to be avoided.
Help me to show I'm not a one-off unluckly 1 in 10,000.
Call the video 'The Truth about Accutane' and tell your story.

I'm done convincing y'all.

Just do it.

My side effects include: Chronic Dry mouth
    Severe dry,tight,dehydrated, ashy,mottled,discolored (yellow & red),wrinkled,scarred poorly healing skin

I watched the documentary last night with my mum, i recorded it from BBC Three. I'd just like to thank Stefan for having the bravery to be in it and being a spokesperson for the effects the drug can have on some peoples lives (i know i'm one). My heart goes out to Jesse's family and the family of the other man who tragically killed themselves because of accutane and in a roundabout way because of acne itself.

I was angry with Roche's response claiming accutane users have 1/ 4th the risk of suicide as the standard population. They conviently covered up the fact that it's almost impossible to prove the drug was the cause of the suicide in court, unless it's documented evidence backed up by many various accounts. So it may never come out the true extent of what seems to be a clear cover up by Roche. But this is the first step towards acknowledgement that the drug can cause very serious problems. If there ever is a follow up show i'd like to put my name forward because i think it's important to show that accutane doesn't just cause mental side effects but very physical side effects too.

Kids may watch this and say "i'll deal with the depression to have clear skin, i'm already depressed as it is" they may think twice if they see the skin conditions accutane can cause which are much worse and more visible than any cystic acne. But i'm very happy that it is out there in the media and i'd like to thank everyone involved in the making of it and again big thanks Indigo for being in it.

I not ashamed to say i cried a few times whilst i was watching it, Jesse reminded me alot of myself, same dress sense, same interests, we took the same drug and i fully understand his feelings vividly because i was there myself. I saw his sister and i thought of my own sister in the same situation, it spoke to me on a deeply personal level.

Hello guys. First of all sorry for my poor english, im not a native speaker. The only reason i joined this forum is to post here. I had taken roaccutane 20mgs 3 years back for once every week. I live in a 3rd world country where you can easily get prescription drugs with the money. I didn't have proper acne just a face similar to fry pan. My face would get really oily after 2-3 hours i wash it. The only reason i took this drug was to eradicate the oil off my face and i believe that would cure my mild acne as well. Symptoms started after a few days i took the first pill, but i ignored it and continued it. I might have eaten 8+ pills total in a span of 2 months. I'm 21 now and i suffer from a multiple symptoms.
  • Hunger - whenever i eat, whatever i eat i just seem to feel hungry again after 15-20mins and after passing a stool i get those hunger pains, as if im starving for 2-3 days.
  • Thirst/Urination - its like a never ending cycle, i urinate, i get thirsty, i drink, again i urinate.. and it goes on.. I'm never fully satisfied, my thirst is never quenched and my urge to urinate is never stopped. I often get white foamy urine.
  • Fatique - generally im tired the whole day, but after eating a meal i am so sleepy that i get all dizzy, let it be breakfast or a small meal, im bound to feel sleepy after it.
  • Muscle loss -i feel like i'm gradually losing muscle mass all over my body and instead gaining fat, i can see my waist gain a 2-3 inches of fat layer over this period of 3 years.
  • Dandruff - No matter what anti-dandruff shampoo i use, theres just noway this dandruff is going away. I can literally spot flakes of dandruff in my hair.
  • Backpain- I can't stand for long or walk too much. My back starts to main along with my legs. Generally i have become so fragile and weak.
  • Acne- I had gotten the worst acne after one year of roaccutane, and nothing would help it, i tried everything, the only thing that worked for me, and i'm continuing it is milk of magnesia, i have to put it daily in the morning on my face before going out.
  • Eye strain & Photo sensitivity
  • Memory loss - i was one of the smartest kid in high school and now i struggle hard to concentrate and i find it hard to remember even the basic things.
  • Ear Hair - i have these tiny hair growing on my ear, maybe the roaccutane has messed up with my DNA. Im just aging very fast.
  • Also i get a lot mood of swings, im easily scarred now, easily i get upset, i easily get bored of things and unfortunately people too and i easily get irritated.

I got tested for basic diseases like Diabetes and Celiac Disease also got checked my thyroid levels and all reports were normal.

I know i might never be able to fully recover but atleast i want to manage my symptoms, i have visited a lot of doctors and they all seem confused and nobody exactly knows whats wrong with me. I hope you guys can help me out diagnose my problem and atleast i can manage my symptoms. Changing diet is quite difficult for me, I stay at a dorm, and unless i get a proper recommendation from a doctor i wont be able to request for special food. I can get tests done quite easily, if anyone of you can suggest what tests should i get done so i would have a better undestanding of my problem.

Finally! Finally I write to you! Of course I was not able to read aaaall the pages here but I read many in the beginning. And I know it may be only words, but you have all my sympathie! And just like you I whish that everything is going to be fine, some day...that everything will just be like it was before Accutane entered our life.

Sorry for my english but I am not a native speaker. I guess I am a lucky person. The only damage I have until now is that I am losing hair and that I have folliculitis alll over my body when I try to remove bodyhair. I would be more than grateful if someone could share some advice on this.

I hope I will read some positive news from each one of you. I really hope the best for you.

Hey everyone,

I would like to report some positive results I have been having on my facial dryness and sensitivity. I was also suffering from weird tingling and flushed kind of feelings on my skin periodically during the day which have improved.

The things which I think can be attributed to this (because I have been keeping a bit of log of things I do) are:

- switcing to Cereave hydrating cleanser (washing with bit of very cold water) once daily at night
- taking a strong probiotic. I use obtibac probiotics from UK - the ones for regularlity are great (once daily)
- livatone plus supplement (4 tablets daily)
- eating more of a paleo diet, with low carbs and removing wheat and milk from diet

Now to be honest, I think the livatone plus IS NOT doing much for this, but I think it is a powerful supplement for long term liver health and overall health. The Cerave is definitely helping my facial skin though. And probiotics are probably helping with the periodic tingling etc. I think the diet I am on is good as well. I am not too strict but I have cut out all bread and pasta and eat more vegetables, meat, fish, fruits and occasionally carbs, like rice, gluten free crackers etc.

Just wanted to share some success for my problems!

All the best.
