So i never shave really, but i want to start doing it becuase my beard area gets very flaky (Seb derm i think?).
I also have pustules/papules in these areas.
I looked at the links to where dan shows how to shave and whatnot. The thing is, since i never shvaed before, i have no idea how to do it. When shaving over acne, with a razor blade, isnt that similar to like poking your zits with a sharp object?
Can you 100 percent avoid getting scars whilst shaving (with acne in that area)?

get a single blade razor and shave around the pimples with that. Also get a 2 or 3 blade razor to shave the rest non acne areas, more than 3 blades is too irritating. I shave with just the cetaphil gentle cleanser, make sure to shave often, like every 2 days so when you shave you don't have to go over many times.

shave around the pimples? So what about the hair where the pimples area? What do you do with that?
Also, does the same thing apply to trimming? Or is it fine to trim over pimples

I'd say that trimming would not cause irritation as long as you're gentle.
Do you think the pustules/papules are due to the facial hair in that area? I have a beard just on my chin and notice I get a pustules under the hair because that skin is never cleansed and the hair causes irritation. Perhaps you could do a two step process:
1) Trim up close around the affected areas you want completely shaven so you can cleanse it. Perhaps use a baking soda mask and some spot treatments to clear it up.
2) Then, once the pustules/papules have decreased, try gently shaving over them!
Remember to moisturize after you shave an area that has not seen a razor in a while.
Witch Hazel also works well for an after shave to prevent irritation
I use it every time i shave

umm pimples are always inflamed?
only closed comedones are not inflamed.
So yes, my pimples are inflamed and red.
And regards to me getting pustules/papules in areas where i have hair, i dont know because i never ever used to get pimples in areas where i have facial hair, but suddenly in the past few months i have been getting pimples there. I also seem to be getting flakiness in this area so maybe that is irritating my skin?
As regards to moisturizing after shaving, is it fine to use a moisturizer (Acne.org moistruizer). Does witch hazel clog pores?
I mean, i dont understand how i see so many people that have pimples in areas wehre they shave, yet they still shave. How do you shave with pimples? i am scared to shave with pimples...

one more thing i would like to add, i have like a months worth of beard growth (dont shave, just trim).
So if i wanted to shave, should i just wait for the pimples in my beard area to clear up, and then use a trimmer to trim it down and then shave?
What type of shaving cream shuld i use?

my advice would be keep trimming and don't shave, that's what I do because shaving always ends up making my skin worse.

regarding the trimming, can trimmers even cut the skin? If not, is there a chance u can cut your acne?
what if you use a trimmer or hair clipper that barbers use for haircuts?
