The other day I was reading an article on acne about taking vitamin a supplements. It went on to say that for vitamin a to work effectively it needs to be taken with Riboflavin. Has anyone heard anything about this? I've also heard that taking vitamin a by itself can actually be harmful and make acne worse. I know that for females the average is 8000 IU a day. It said to take it in a 100 to 1 ratio. I am considering adding vitamin a supplements to my routine but do I need to get vitamin b-2 to go with it?

I'm a guy, but I can vouch that 20,000 IU of Retinyl Acetate (A) has helped me immensely.

Really? Are you taking it on your own? Or like under a doc's prescription? I want to take supplements but the recommended dosage is not over 10,000. I really don't want to exceed this...

Yes im doing it on my own but i've researched this extensively and i know what the effects are, and if i see any signs im stopping right away... 50,000 isn't even THAT much...lots of people go in the 100,000 - 300,000 IU range, which isn't for me since my acne isn't that bad in first place..

I've done a good bit of research on it myself but i'd really like to stay around the 10,000 IU mark. Is that all you're taking? Or do you take other supplements? Also I'm just curious but what is the severity of your acne?

i take vitamin a, zinc, and vitamin e.. but i also try eating healthier, i'll admit im not the healthiest eater around but i try to get more fruits and veggies into my diet. I have hormonal acne due to me being a 17 yr old male, mostly just small whiteheads on my cheeks, i really don't get acne anywhere else besides my damn cheeks its quite annoying.

I think tomorrow I'm getting the Nature Made brand at Walgreens. Its 8000 IU per pill with 100 pills in the bottle. I'm also considering picking up vitamin D supplements while I'm there as I've heard really good things about them in treating acne.

Also how much IU is in each pill for the ones your taking? And how many do you take a day?

10,000 IU in each one, i take 2 in the morning and 3 at dinner. You should take it with a meal for it is fat soluble and more easily absorbed with a meal.
