Day One:

Went to the store and bought a bunch of shit.
Maybe a little overboard...

Over the next few days I'm going to start using many of these in combination, here’s my plan:
AM
•Wash face in shower with scrubby wash (2% salicylic acid)
*Dry face after shower with CLEAN, dry washcloth
•Apply thin coat of 5% benzoyl peroxide to problem areas
•Moisturize with blend of jojoba, neem, emu, and vitamin e oil
•NO MAKEUP!
•spot apply BP during day if new spots appear

LUNCH:
•take
27mg Zinc
20000iu Vit. A
250mg Vit. C
400iu Vit. D3
30iu Vit. E
10mg Thiamin
10mg Riboflavin
20mg Niacin
10mg Vit B6
400mcg Folic Acid
15mcg Vit B12
30mcg Biotin
100mg Calcium
18mg Iron
150mcg Iodine
1mg Copper
1mg Manganese
100mg 5-HTP
1000mg Flax Seed Oil

PM
•Wash face in sink with foaming wash (2% salicylic acid)
•Dry face with another CLEAN, dry washcloth
•Apply thin coat of 2% salicylic acid to problem areas
•change to CLEAN pillowcase before bed

Then, January 2nd, I'm starting an elimination diet, to figure out if my acne is diet-related.

Here is a picture of me, before beginning anything:

400iu Vit. D3

Unless you get a lot of sun, I'd say add a zero to that figure.

150mcg Iodine

If this is part of a multivitamin, then that's fine, but otherwise, I'd say skip it (don't spend extra money on it). You probably get enough iodine, if not more than enough, in a regular diet.

What led you to this? I've been avoiding this one.

Sounds good. Best of luck!

Yeah, good plan. I get almost no sun here in the winter.

It's part of the multivitamin, when I finish these ones I already have, I'll probably look for one without it.

I have been intending to try it for seasonal depression. What makes you avoid it?

you'd be way better off replacing all those vitamins & minerals with fruits and vegetables.
humans weren't made to get all their nutrients from pills.
just sayin.

Very true! I actually do eat lots of fruits and vegetables, but it's good to be reminded I can always add more. The multi-vitamin is just a supplement to my regular diet.

Yes, this is coming from a guy who megadoses on a whole bunch of stuff, but I found 5-HTP a little too... unnatural. Granted, I don't have very severe seasonal depression, but I considered taking it to boost melatonin production, which may be beneficial for preventing acne.

But alas, I did not. If it works for you, however, that's great. I know it's been around for several decades. Heck, I need to stop buying as many supplements as I do!

But anyway, keep us posted. smile.gif

Day One:
started the day with the remnants of a cold sore on my lip, lots of active acne, and since it is also the first day of my period, I'm grumpy and decided not to go out of my house except to buy a bunch of acne stuff.
perfect start.

so this evening I used lush's "mask of magnaminty" which I've had nice results with in the past as a VERY occasional deep cleanser, seemed like a good way to start my new skin care regime.
after washing it off in the bath, and letting my skin dry, I applied abreva to my cold sore, topped off with neem oil (figured I'd try something new, why not?).
I applied vitamin E oil to the dark bags under my eyes (god I'm a mess lately!)
then I applied my 5% BP to my problem areas (my chin & around my mouth), and let that dry.
then topped off everything with neem oil, emu oil, and jojoba oil.
I look a little oily and red, but the real test will be what I look like in the morning.
or morning a month from now...
day1.jpg

and OMG I'm itchy! I'm watching a movie & actually pinching myself to keep from scratching my face!

Woke up, went jogging, took shower, scrubbed face gently with face scrub.
After my face was dry, I applied 2% salicylic acid gel to problem areas.
Now I'm drinking coffee (have to get as much in as possible before I do the cleanse).

Day 3:

Last night I came home, washed my face with 2% salicylic acid face wash, applied 5% bp to problem areas (basically the lower 1/3 of my face), and went to bed on the same pillowcase as the night before (oops).

Woke up in the middle of the night to take a friend to the airport, noticed my face was dry, and applied a couple drops of emu oil to the flaky spots.

Woke up this morning, went jogging, showered, washed my face with lush's coal face, let it dry, and then applied 2% salicylic acid treatment to problem areas, and 0.5% salicylic acid moisturizer to the rest of my face.

Day 4:

Last night I washed my face with the 2% salicylic face wash, applied 5% bp to problem areas, and went to sleep on clean pillowcases.

Today I woke up (did not go running) washed my face with the face wash, applied 2% salicylic acid gel to problem areas, and covered everything up with makeup (bad me).

Tonight I washed my face, applied the bp, and am flipping my pillow to the clean side.

So I haven't been updating daily, it got busy with holidays and such, and I got bored with posting the same thing every day.
Last night I wore makeup, came home, washed my face, and went to bed.
I've noticed my skin looks the best in the morning when I wake up, before I wash it.
The 5% bp is making my skin extra dry, but I've been combating that with some of the oils I bought, which is working enough.
Here's today:
