It looks like your face is really improving!

Unfortunately, there's an ulterior motive for my post. I need to get something off my chest. Whenever I read your blog the song in my head goes:

"Some folk'll never eat a skunk, and then again, some folk'll, like Cletis the slack-jawed yokel."

So sorry if your username has nothing to do with this! But I do feel a lot better now biggrin.gif

LOL. simpsons. I totally was singing along with your post. lol.
it's actually saying "YO. Kelcy (which is my name!)." lol, but that will work too. LOL eusa_dance.gif

LOG

week 7 + 4 days

SEVERE dryness/flakes. My face is somewhat free from active acne, i have about 4 active acne on my face and neck, but so itchy from dryness. My neck is really itchy and feels leathery. I can't even put my scarf on because if it touches my neck, it itches so bad to a point where it hurts. I'm using jojoba oil, before and after bp, but I don't think it's doing much. I should put more moisturizer on. we will see how that will work.

so. redness from scars and dryness. urg.

Hi yokel!

The most recent picture you posted looks great! Even if you're still struggling with breakouts it's clear that your skin is improving, which seems to be all we can ask for during the first couple of months on the regimen. I'm not sure where you live, but I've found that recent colder weather has been making my skin insanely dry and tight (even more so than what I was already struggling with on the regimen). Being surrounded by dry air from heaters all the time can really do a number on your skin. I really love Dan's moisturizer but I know a lot of people said they don't think it's moisturizing enough. Perhaps for the winter you could try something a little heavier and still add in the jojoba oil? I was thinking about trying Cerave but I've never used it before so I can't vouch for it. I'm a little nervous about experimenting with moisturizers though because at least I know Dan's doesn't break me out (knock on wood!).

Due to me living in Canadaland the weather KILLS my neck!! I had the same problem as you with the neck dryness and I know how much it hurts! I actually bought dove intensive care moisturizer(I know it's not a recommended product, but it's the only thing that helped) which I put only on my neck. I do it after I put the bp on and am waiting for it to dry and only at night. After that I put dans moisturizer on my face and again on my neck. I also put an extra pump of dans mosturizer on my neck alone in the morning. It has totally gotten rid of the dryness and pain! I hope this helps.

Same for me too. I want to try a different moisturizer but I'm scared that it might mess up Dan's regimen and make me break out. redface.gif We know we do not want that. lol. I live in michigan. crazy weather! CRAZY! one day it's hot and then the other day it's freezing cold. So, yes I think the weather and heater are really drying out my skin. If you do try cerave and you like it, please lemme know smile.gif

I guess it would be okay to apply some other moisturizer on my neck because I dont apply bp on bottom part of my neck... I think... but i'm too scared because my skin got LOT LOT better and adding more stuff to it might make me break out. which is big nono eusa_naughty.gif

but thank you for your help! smile.gif

I gotta let this out. I AM BREAKING OUT!!! I really thought I was doing somewhat OK. But 4 major cysts are growing on my neck. It's sooooo devastating. urg sad.gif plus, I got couple minor breakouts on my chin and my right cheek. I dont understand why. Could it be irritation from jojoba oil scrub? Could it be makeup that I wear (I now wear makeup only about twice a week)? COuld it be AHA+ that I put on last night? I'm now again frustrated. I do understand I wont be completely clear yet, but just the fact that major breakouts come all at once really is making me mad! when will I ever be free from acne... sigh*

you should see a dermatologist. i think 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide alone is not gonna clear your skin.

LOG

week 12 + day 6

It's been so long since I have updated my log. I was really devastated when I wrote my last log. I just couldnt deal with dryness/flakiness along with the breakouts on my jawline as well as my upper lip area and cheeks. I am now about on 13th weeks with the regimen and BOY am I glad that I didn't give up. I kinda been slacking on taking vitamin C and zinc. But I faithfully stuck to the regimen and now I am somewhat clear. MUCH MUCH MUCH better than last time. I have about 2 active acnes on my neck. Other than that, I do not have any breakouts on my face so far. I really do feel like this regimen is a matter of being patient and diligent.

One thing that really helped me to reduce dryness was my new moisturizer. I switched from Dan's moisturizer to CVS knock-off cetaphil moisturizer. I was so scared to try new products other than Dan's products but I took the courage to try other things since Dan's moisturizer really wasn't doing anything. The new moisturizer really reduced dryness on my face. However, the downside of this moisturizer is that it's bit sticky when you first apply it. I really wouldn't say it's greasy but I feel like some other people might feel it's bit greasy because it's so sticky.

I am using AHA+ as a spot treatment and I use freeman facial enzyme mask pineapple every third night to reduce scars. I am not sure if this mask is working but it does not break me out. The description states "this enzyme mask, with pineapple extract and AHAs, gently exfoliates while lightly moisturizing, leaving your skin soft, supple and younger-looking."

I just ordered sudocream from ebay to reduce scarring. I heard it's really drying, we will see how it goes once it gets here smile.gif I will update you with pictures later. PEACE

LONG TIME NO SEE!!! I've been really busy with school and then enjoying every moment of this winter break from school smile.gif My face was somewhat clear and I was so happy. But recently I've been really suffering from horrible dryness. I think it's because I was on a trip and forgot to bring my jojoba oil and my moisturizer. So I didnt moisturize my skin enough which really didnt effect me immediately so I thought I was okay. But I guess not rolleyes.gif !!! because my skin feels sooo leathery and wrinkly. PLUS, I think this dryness is actually causing breakouts... I know it's horrible, but I can surely say that my skin is much better. I wish I can show you guys the pictures but I am tooooo lazy to take one and upload confused.gif ...

Now, my biggest problem is taking care of dryness and scars smile.gif but i'm happy for my skin eusa_drool.gif

OHOHOHOH!!! word about sudocream. IT IS AMMMMAAAAAZZZZZIIIINNNNGGGG!!! For those of you havent tried out this product, you guys NEED to try it. It really helps reducing breakouts!

HERE'S a photo update!

I took this with my phone camera, so the quality of this picture is not that great. So, it didn't pick up somewhat less severe hyperpigmentation or scarring. I have another breakout on my chin area, so not completely free from breakouts but I think you can see that my skin is much better. EH? hehe. I think it's from using a wrong makeup product, I used rimmel bronzer and I think this is causing breakouts... I think...

As for makeup... I've heard great things about almay cosmetic, so I use TLC mixed with pureblend. Pureblend contain jojoba and sweet almond oil, so I think it helps with dry areas. But... still there's scars that I cant hide even with makeup.

Any tips on reducing scarring! anyone?

Holy hell your skin looks incredible!! My chin keeps breaking out too and it is annoooying, but I'm sure we'll both be clear in no time biggrin.gif

As for your scars, there's not all that much you can do but wait. Maybe try some AHA?

Okay guys. I am back. Unfortunately with the bad news :(

My skin is back to that horrible condition again, maybe it's because of the weather change?! It seems like My skin is the worst around this time of the year.

Here is an update... As my skin got better, I Followed the regimen only at night and my skin was okay. So, I tried bunch of chemical peels thinking that it would be a quick remedy for my hormonal acne, but I guess it was a bad idea. Although I started salicylic acid peel two weeks ago and it could all be just purging process but I just can't stand all the white heads plus visible peeling... So I decided to go back to Dan's regimen. I started tonight and here is my current skin condition. BLAH. The lighting made it look somewhat better than it actually is...

You need to treat ur acne internally or else it will be a long battle. Go to a hormone specialist and see if u need to get on bc. Look around how people got clear through dietary changes specially if constipation is an issue. Also start doing hardcore yoga including headstand and shoulderstand.

Have you thought about hormonal treatment? My acne was worse than yours for years, it did not consistently respond to anything until I went on spironolactone. I went from worse than your picture to 100% clear in 6 months. I am still completely clear.

I tried many things diligently, including BP, peels, retinoids, antibiotics, diet changes, blue lights...you name it I've done it.
