Day 4 nothing has changed much but I am not breaking out, I am so happy i hope I can beat my record of 21 days from last year.

Gotta do more than just stop masturbating. I have added plenty of extra to support the body to clear the skin.

Blue/Red/Yellow LED lights. 15min each.

Zinc 70mg/day

Betacaroten 25mg/day

African black soap/Shea butter once a day.

Astaxanthin 4-8mg/day

Praventin capsule 200mg/day + cream

I had cystic pimples and i got minor pimples everyday now i have got one small pimple in bit over 3 weeks.

I still find this thread ridiculous. I'd put more faith in urine therapy than this. Or even BP or Proactiv. And that's saying something.

I masturbate like once a month, just because I never really feel the need to do it unless some porn pops up on my computer or something. I do have sex a few times a month.

Either way, I've never noticed a correlation. If anything I would think having orgasms would help, since it relieves stress.

It's also ridiculous because you guys can't seem to stop yourselves from doing it. It's funny imagining you being like "NOOO WHY AM I DOING THIS?!?!" every time like you have no control over yourself.

Okay this has been going for 121 pages long. Can someone give me a bit of a sum up. Does masturbation (for a guy) cause acne? I masturbate a lot, and my acne always looks the same. It doesn't get better if I don't masturbate. But it doesn't get worse really when I masturbate. But I don't really know for sure.

The orgasm portion of masturbation can trigger acne for certain males (myself included).

In order to fairly assess your sensitivity to orgasms, you'll have to abstain for approximately 1-2 months.

Most guys I know do not have the self control to abstain, so they'll never know whether they are among the ones affected by this condition.

i went about 10 days or so without recently. noticed an extreme improvement in my skin, marks went away (odd?) and i have zero breakouts, yes zero. but i also started drinking a lot of water and putting on less of my skin products to prevent flaking. diets pretty good as well.

about 6-10 months ago, i was going well over a month without giving in. i would have the occasional wet dream like every maybe 3 weeks. my skin was at its best back then.

but i do remember like in february i was going at it with a girl and my skin was fine... but yes i do notice that when i lose to the urge my skin flares up. that is just me though

UPDATE: skin looks 30-40% better than when i started zinc and blue/red/yellow light treatment. (been using bit over 2 weeks)

I dont know about the other things i eat maybe they do give some support, but its mainly because of those.

Small pimples has formed, but they aint making the quality worse, less inflammation.

If you cant afford LED treatment then at least use zinc, its extremely cheap.

I started using zinc same day as i started doing LED treatments, been using other products about 3-4 weeks longer.

Well im 16 just move to usa. I started masturbating when i was 14 because i saw in"American Pie" the movie that he killed his granda when he cum and i thought i would try. Coincidentally i started getting acne around that time. Confidence went down. the longest i ever go without masturbating after that is 7 days and that was because i went camp. Now i am starting this for 30 days i know i wont fail cuz i wont b having sex with my gf n i dont sleep with hoes.

Day 1- severe acne too much to count. previously used proactive only worked a little n now using neutrogena soap bar origiinal and cetaphil moisturizer spf 15. pics will b uploaded regularly

I would say no.

Then again im no teenager with raging hormones either where such imbalances could potentially lead to more susceptibility and prevalence. I did this abstain from masturbation thing for 3 months with no results. Then i found that its actually toxic to the body to hold the secretions in as its "normal" for the body to flush the pipes from now and again as it allows the prostate to release built up toxins that accumulate in our bodies due to genetic predisposition and our daily diet. That did more good for me than abstaining from it all. Well recently that "once and awhile" activity became fairly active again thanks to a partner. Well what was the first thing i worried about? That such activities would lead to yet again an increase in breakouts. Uhm pleased to report that this is false for me.

Possible reasoning?

Well my diet has sucked and ive gained 25lbs since college started ( i stopped exercising cuz im to busy)

I do practice better hygiene- hand washing more frequently (cuz that what we practicing nurses do)

i have been drinking less water

changed from razor to electric shaving

was taking pro/prebiotics for 3 months, now i eat prunes/figs frequently (couple a week)

other changes i cannot remember however ive done things to better myself (shaving, hand hygiene) but have also regressed (diet, h20 intake) so you would think that im headed for catastrophe here but that isn't the case. So my conclusion is no.

I'm only posting this because i think it will be helpful for people who havent quite put all the pieces of a the puzzle together. For me, if i masturbate more than twice a week I breakout a lot. I notice no difference between abstaining completley and masturbating once a week. I guess I am lucky there. But even if i keep it to just once a week I still have breakouts. My thread is basically just a theory on the relationship between prolactin levels and acne. Masturbation/sex raise prolactin levels which raises the conversion of testosterone to dht because prolactin causes an increase in 5-alpha-reductase. So instead of approaching things from a dht perspective, i think we may have to go deeper and target prolactin.

I'm not a doctor or scientist, but this is just my idea... as a woman...

I have PCOS and one common symptom is higher levels and/or increased sensitivity to DHT. That is why many women are prescribed spironolactone to help block DHT from the hormone receptors. Saw palmetto is supposed to do the same thing.

Men are not advised to take these medications unless they suffer from certain prostate problems but they are also known for helping with male pattern baldness. Too much of these medications can cause breast tissue growth in men... a.k.a feminization.

If you're trying to do the same thing (lower DHT levels) by quitting masturbation why don't you just try saw palmetto instead. You'd be risking "feminization", but I would think there are probably other risks associated with not ejaculating for long periods of time. Isn't there a reason for "wet dreams"? It seems to me like the risks wouldn't be that different.

But alas, I have no idea what I'm talking about. I doubt your methods will work, but I wish you all the best, nonetheless, and I hope I brought up at least a few points worth thinking about. The endocrine system is a complicated thing.
