Would guys benefit from taking EPO to control hormones? Or does it only work for women? Thanks!

im a guy, i've taken it for a number of months. I know it helps facial flushing because i discontinued it and notice the effects within 3-4 days. So it does affect guys, maybe not exactly for what you're wanting though.

Interesting... Well my face is red a lot so I guess it couldn't hurt. I have heard that people break out from omega 6 oils which worries me though.

That stuff's active ingredient is gamma linolenic-acid, isn't it (GLA)? From what I know it is an alpha reductase inhibitor, which means it prevents free testosterone from being converted into more potent DHT.

I'd be cautious taking that stuff orally. Yeah it may help acne by reducing the effects of DHT, but I think it'll leave more testosterone around to be converted by aromatase to estrogen. Estradiol, the most potent form of estrogen, is what eventually fuses your epiphyseal plates in your long bones, preventing them from growing further. I wouldn't want to give up height for acne.

I personally feel bad after eating fennel seeds, which contain beta-stitosterol, which works in the same way as GLA does, IIRC (AR inhibitor). That stuff makes my nipples really sore, and I can tell the stuff that's in the seeds is potent because I'm a freakin' guy; shouldn't really happen. It also makes me feel like I store more fat when I eat them, or perhaps retain more water.

If you still want to use EPO I suggest using it topically, pretty sure it can inhibit the AR in your skin directly without harming systemically. This is the way some dandruff shampoos work, too, which I know people have cleared up on. There's side effects listed on the bottles though that suggest that it can be absorbed systemically from skin.

Anyways, I'm just starting to scratch the surface of how the endocrine system affects the body. Remember to DYODD.

Regimen caveman style: Not washing my face AT ALL currently, helps a lot. (thanks wapak + others)
Also following a no-dairy (trying for no-gluten) low insulin index/glycemic load diet while intermittent fasting, helps tons too.
Researching Th1/Th2 balance currently as well as histadelia.

Oh I didn't think it did anything that serious. I'm still curious about it though...

Yeah, men take it/apply it to prevent baldness.

Crazy stuff.
