Current regimen: garlic supplements [as needed], Enzymedica gluten blocker [as needed], nicadan [not sure if it works yet]. I try to simplify as much as I can. Don't take more supplements than you need....try one at a time and be patient.

The supplements that really helped me when my acne was at its worst: inositol, DIM [not as frequently now!] digestive enzymes [don't need them every day anymore, only on cheat days], herpanacine & vitamin C with rose hips/ low acid [not every day], regular sun exposure for vitamin D3, superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme supplements. NOTE: I do not recommend DIM for long term use, and I do not recommend hormonal creams without doctor supervision.

Lifestyle & Skin Care: acupuncture, regular exercise/ yoga, low histamine diet, avoiding unnecessary stress, balancing skin's PH (using Image Ormedics), using distilled/ filtered water to wash face, occasional high frequency facials...

My skin is somewhat ok, just tiny pimples, one cyst and the perennial red marks.

Today i had lunch with a girl with acne. I inspected her face, just to compare my acne to hers, and she realised i was staring at her spots.

I spent the rest of the lunch smiling at her and looking deeply into her eyes as if i was amazed at her beauty, just so she didnt think she wasnt pretty with acne or something.

@TemperateCent ; Everytime i read a topic on the emotional and psychological effects of acne, there you are being mean and disrespectful to other people. The reason you still have acne is because you deserve it.

Skin's not my best friend lately. Broke out more than usual on the under-the-nose area and chin also a bit close to the ears. Combine it with still lingering post-fraxel redness and you'll get a crappy feeling. October's my worst skin month anyway, so I guess I'll just have to wait it out. Living in the North has those disadvantages like sudden temperature and pressure drop, heavy rains, cold, darkness, general tiredness etc. Also, just incredible how few days of bad sleep can affect your skin.
I also noticed how I'm avoiding any bathroom mirrors, like I just refuse looking at them :D It's a weird, but good habit, since I go on without obsessively looking at myself.

Diagnosed with PCOS

Occasional acne + rolling scars

Meds:

- Yasmin birth control
- Spironolactone 37,5mg going 25mg
- Inositol powder 2 times/day before meal

Skincare:

- Hemp oil

Yeah, Aeris, I agree with WishClean. It's unfortunate that mods here don't keep people from harassing others. All of that guy's posts are really negative, and I just don't look at them. There are lots of people here who want to support you! I hope you'll stick around.

My friend sent a text and it said "acne" instead of "can" in a sentence. He then sent another text saying "stupid auto correct."

Even though I know for a fact that it was auto correct, it didn't stop me from obsessing for about an hour of whether or not he was making fun of my acne. Two decades of having people blatantly make fun of and insult me because of my acne has made me so paranoid that I now think some people are making fun of me when they're not.

Get over it.

If she really has a paranoid personality disorder, then it is absolutely useless to say stuff like that. You don't get over some personality disorders. They are part of who you are.

I had moderate acne in middle school. Tried the accutane and it gave me crazy side effects like random nosebleeds n I fainted twice so I stopped it. Throughout high school my acne was mostly under control with BP. Then I started college, felt great cuz of my skin and even got a nice job at a bank. Fast forward 1 year later and the cysts started showin up more ughh.. New derm gave me bactrim n tretinoin which mostly eliminated my acne so I felt great again, life was good.

After about a year I started getting lazy w/ the bactrim n cysts came back slowly. Now it got resistant to bactrim. Then all hell broke loose on my face (mostly forehead). Started getting big, red, angry, stubborn cysts so now I'm on epiduo and monodox. It's been way past the ibp should be and the cysts are still coming. I wash my face a few times a day, got strict w/ diet n medicines but it seems like nothings working.

Every day clear/not clear sucks cuz it seems another cyst is coming. Acne is mostly cysts not little white heads (I would love to have those and not no damn cysts). I've been hanging out less w/ friends, n even started to use a little concealer (im a guy...). Im starting to lose hope that I will have cyst-free skin again and don't want to hide in my house. I wanna go out like I used to and be social. Work sucks cuz its customer service and everyone has to see my face and the way they move their eyes tells me they really notice my acne, I hate it. Hitting lower self esteem and my self-confidence is being knocked down. People with consistent clear skin just don't realize how good they have it. Waiting for the day the cysts don't come back n my acne calms down again (sigh).

Life goes on with acne or not. My last resort was a dud and I am back to square one. By the grace of God though I am making the most of each day and actually enjoying my life. All this in spite of cystic acne.

It's a rocky road but like everything else in life, there is always a beginning and an end. Here's to finding my end.

God is good to me..........more than I deserve.

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

my skin is the worst it's ever been at the moment, and I"m not just saying that. I've never really had a breakout on my cheeks, but as of yesterday i have three big cyst-y ones, and about 8 more on my chin and jaw. and they're all huge and pulsing, i think the pain is actually giving me mild headaches. it's really bumming me out, never thought my skin could get any worse and it's managed to prove me wrong. eughhh.

Skin is definitely getting worse lately. I've been using less BP though so that's definitely contributing to it. I'm wanting to stop BP because I'm paranoid about it making my skin more sensitive to the sun and causing sun damage. I'm already careful with the sun because of already being pale.... It sucks that most of the topical options out there (as far as I know) make your skin more photosensitive.

I had been emotionally managing my skin well lately - my skin hasn't been great but it wasn't getting to me. Today is the first day in a while where it is getting to me a bit and I just feel ugly. I'd love to stay home and not let anyone see me / have to face anyone but I've got things to do so I'll have to just deal with it.

Hope you're all doing well comfort.gif

Hey Lilly,

Don't lose your positivity! Just try to avoid mirrors and keep busy when you are feeling low about yourself. Being productive is usually the best antidote. That or watching great movies at home to take your mind off things :)

The state of my acne became much worse a few days ago, despite my healthy eating habits and strenuous exercise routines. And so I have just been washing up every morning and night while consuming several ClearZine pills, designed to eradicate the acne from the inside out.

The ClearZIne pills were actually doing wonders for my skin two weeks ago. It almost cleared everything up. However, I ran out and had to wait another week for the next shipment to come in, and by the time they came in my acne flared up again.

Fastforward a few days, today, it has gotten a little better, but I am not overall happy with the product and the general state of affairs. Luckily, I have an appointment with a dermatologist next week and so I have something to look forward to.

Sometimes my feelings about my acne become so negative and hate-filled I cannot take it, and extreme thoughts of self-violence aren't far from my mind...

But this is fine. It is all transitory, right?

October's one of the worst months for me skin, and now that it's getting colder, dryness kicks in as well! What i've noticed (which havent before), it's like acne epidemy here in Stockholm. I see many people (mostly girls and women) with really bad acne everyday. Most people have some flaws, or scars, or breakouts. I wonder what is happening with people's lifestyles, eating and sleeping habbits, seems like everyone is so into their smartphones (including me), stressed, busy, eating a lot of shitty foods... Never have i realized so many have acne in this city...

My skin is getting progressively better every day, and that is all I can really ask for. I am sick of having it, however. I am going to a party next week, and I want to be seen as attractive to the opposite sex. I am hoping to stir some hearts, that is for sure.

I enjoy posting on this thread, because it does truly help some.

I feel pretty good about my face today! There are some noticeable bumps, but it is mostly just a little redness. The combination of different products is actually working.

I am using ClearZine acne pills, combined with some aloe soap to soothe the redness, and then the moisturizer from The Regimen. If this does not work, then I will start to use The Regimen as it is supposed to, but why stop something that is working? If improvement continues like this, then I should have completely clear skin in a week and a half.

I feel alright about my acne today. It has been clearing up for the most part. However, the problem is not acne at this point, but rather extreme drying. Ever since I used BP soap from the Regimen, my face has been shedding skin for two days straight. It is ridiculous. Ridiculous and painful.

My face looks like it was sunburned.

I feel really good today. The drying certainly ceased. It is still ever-present, but its effect have been mitigated by a moisturizer. However, I am trying to allow my skin to start producing its own lubrication now.
