if you just wait for them to fade then most likely 1-2yrs if your lucky, could be up to 3-4yrs to completley go.

if you use creams and stuff to help them then it could reduce time a bit, maybe still 1-2yrs. stuff like gycolic acids, salycic acid?, retin-a etc.

if you go to a derm/salon and get a chemical peel then they would be gone within 1-2 treatments, we're talking just a week or two, because you have to wait a few days in between treatments.

and laser treatment would get rid of everything in just a day

NOT true about the chemical peels. It may take 3-4 peels just to notice a slight difference. After 6 peels or so, your red marks will fade fairly dramatically as long as the peel is done correctly and you use a toner along with it.

I've never had laser but I'm 95% sure they do not fade away after one treatment

hmm, well i had a somewhat bad breakout last june, not 2009, but 2008. in any case, that eventually subsided and i ofc had red marks, and i didn't have nearly amount of knowledge i do now than i did then.

anyways, it's been roughly 1 year + 3 or so months, and i can still see the red marks. it's not so bad in good lighting(yellow), but in absolute bright white, it's somewhat noticeable.

i'd say depending on the severity, they can take years. wear sunscreen at least. i only did so the past 5 months or so.
