Have rolled twice - 5 weeks apart with 1.5mm roller. First time not really aggressively enough, 2nd time much better.

It is 4 weeks since my 2nd roll and I am 100% sure that I have had improvement in a number of scars, both ice pick and rolling. I am not going to post up too much about this until I have done 4 treatments as I don't want to get people's hopes up without being sure that all is good but I swear to you that it has already worked for me and I am hopeful that by the end of the year I will have gotten rid of a lot of my scars!!

My issue at the moment is that I can still see very sightly the area where I rolled as a very, very slightly different shade - like a very, very, very mild tan. Absolutely no one else can notice it and I only see it when I am literally a few inches from the mirror but has anyone else noticed this or that when they wash they can see the area where they rolled as being a very slight red colour for a few seconds?

My skin isn't irritable at all and in a way it is good I suppose to see that underneath my skin something is still happening - hopefully collagen production!! Like I said it has been 4 weeks sicen my second roll and I will be rolling again in another 2 weeks, I just don't want to give myself some sort of bizarre permanent tan that stops at my eye sockets... lol...

On a final note, chin up people as I have definitely had very good results and I am not bullshitting or imagining it - just be careful as rolling is a serious procedure and shouldn't be treated as some minor ritual!

Good luck!

Hell Yeah!! time and patience is key,you cannot roll prematurely. It takes at least 6 weeks for collagen growth and new fibroblasts.I wish i had been doing this for the last 3 years without fail. But its only been 3 rolls and slow but definite improvement. No having to avoid the sun except for maybe 3-4 days.Fraxel copied this concept from the dermaroller so next time i'm doing the 1.5 roller and mix it up with a .75 just for little areas like under eyes etc.I'm rolling until there is no scar tissue left!!!!

I agree with everyone regarding dermarolling (collagen induction therapy).

I just finished my second round last Friday. Two weeks after I started my first round five weeks ago, I noticed a subtle change in my skin: it was becoming tighter and my remaining scars were beginning to fill in.

At first, I thought it was just microswelling. I took photos over the course of several weeks and confirmed that, in fact, my remaining scars were filling in. I saw my brother who lives out-of-town over Labor Day weekend and he said, "Your skin looks so smooth." In fact, my wife told me last week that she wants me to order HER a dermaroller to help counteract the effects of aging.

The pigmentation in my skin began to improve as well; I have a much more even tone to my overall complexion. I read that this results from new capillaries forming and increasing the flow of blood to the dermis and epidermis as a result of the sub-dermal injury.

Collagen induction therapy (CIT) has "jump started" the remodeling of my acne scars. I've had three subcision treatments this year and CIT is taking my y-t-d-improvement to the next level.

I would encourage anyone out there to do their research and see if this might be a treatment option for you.

I'll be posting photos in four weeks.

To the OP, what is your natural skin tone? Or what was your skin tone to start with?

Has anyone else noticed skin color changes?

My skin tone is quite pale I suppose but not in an unhealthy way. I live in England and don't ever sunbathe or anything like that so my skin is fairly healthy in that sense.

I did a sal acid peel last night, nothing too harsh but today I can see for sure that the area where I roll is a slightly different shade than the rest of my skin. Like I said, this is barely noticeable at all normally and is of no real concern at the moment as I imagine that it will return to normal eventually.

Thanks to other for posting on this thread; good to hear that others are getting results as well. I have to say taht I am quite surprised at how well the rolling has worked given that I have only rolled twice. I had a scar on my right cheek that appeared last year, I was gutted as I haven't scarred in years given that I rarely now gets spots. I was so aware of this particular scar as it happened on an area where I had no other scars and it really pissed me off at the time. After one intensive roll on this area, the scar has shown about 70% improvement and that is no joke! I think that perhaps beacuse the scar only happened last September that maybe it reacted well because it was realtively new in comparison to older scars.

Please, however, don't take this as a sign to get stuck into rolling asap if you still have acne as that would be a very bad idea and could make things much worse!

I am going to make sure to update this thread in a number of weeks time and would request that others do as well - coming to these boards started me on my rolling journey and I am very grateful to those who provided me with info and shared their experiences.

Well, congratulations on that improvement! cool.gif Thank you for sharing with us!

I'm pale too.
Just bought a Leaf & Rusher TX roller. The next in the Dermaroller series. I'm hoping to have success as well.

Hey Guys,

I am glad to hear you guys are having such great results...if any of you were to show picture sbefore and after that would be great.

Can someone post information (links) about dermaroller...

and what type to purchase/website to purchase it on?

I would appreciate it.

Do any of you have deeper rolling scars...or deeper icepicks or jagged small type scars?

How are those responding?

How long between rolls? How long is your skin damaged after a roll? Let's say you do it on a friday, can you return to work on a Monday?

Thank You All.

Some of my scars I though appeared larger at first but with the second roll things improved. I suppose it takes time for the scars tissue to... ???.. bugger off... lol

I want to make it clear that I am not a specialist in any way shape or form and advise people to read up on this forum and check out a few videos on youtube if they are considering rolling. can't stress enough how it should not be as though it were no big deal - it is: you will be sticking needles into your face until it bleeds and trust me when I saw that it is painful and not some nice relaxing treatment.

I am not going to mention what I use post rolling just yet because the damn stuff cost me £110!!! and i don't want people throwing their money at this stuff until I am sure that it has made a difference. It is very difficult to know what it is that is actually making the difference, my guess is that the actual rolling accounts for a huge percentage of the repair but how do I know? And that's the issue!

I will post up some photos after in another 6 weeks as that will be 3 rolls plus recovery and by that stage I will be quite confident that the improvement should last.

As for where to buy rollers, I bought my rollers (1.5mm 3 line) from www.Dr-roller.eu and was pleased with the service i.e. they were pretty reasonable and arrived in decent time. I should be getting freebies for this Dr wink.gif

Good luck people and make sure to do your homework.

Sorry - down time - really red for 2 days, quite red for next 2 days, by day 5 still a bit red but no big deal at all and no one notices. You could go out by day 3 and just say that your new soap aggravated your skin. This is based on doing a decent roll by the way, not just brush the roller lightly against your face.

personally I am not using the LEDs as I wanted to try it without first, I am just not yet convinced the LEDs will do much and am pleased at how things are going without them. Will look into them in the future perhaps but I hadn't heard many people make concrete arguments in their favour whereas, as you have seen from this thread, a number of us are pleased with the results we are getting from rolling.

Finally my scars are mostly ice pick with some rolling and in patches on my face, mainly cheeks. both seem to be responding well so far.

PS - buy the 3 line rollers rather than the 8 lines as you can be more precise and be very careful that you don't drop your roller in the sink, on the carpet etc... I did and some of the needles bent. It is delicate and expensive so be careful when rolling.

Can someone post information (links) about dermaroller...

theres info on derma rollers all over this forum as well as a sticky at the top of the page..I use a1.5mm derma roller purchased on ebay, I use led lights, 15% topical c serum at the right ph balance off ebay, and I use 31g 5mm diabetic pen needles to individually needle my deepest scars..I purchase them from americandiabeteswholesale dot com

and what type to purchase/website to purchase it on?

I would appreciate it.

Do any of you have deeper rolling scars...or deeper icepicks or jagged small type scars?

I have icepicks and jagged small scars. Scarred pores like crazy too which are basicly small ice picks. I also have a bad burn scar on one side of my face. If you have ever been badly burned then you know just how bad burn scars..

How are those responding?

My scarsare responding well to rolling/needling/led/topical treatment. Some of my deepest scars have been very stubborn to say the least. But after a year they are all finally showing improvement, scarred pores and all. My skin is completely remodeling. My burn has improved drasticly..I just continue to keep at and improve. Its that simple.

How long between rolls? How long is your skin damaged after a roll? Let's say you do it on a friday, can you return to work on a Monday?

roughly 6 weeks..My skin stays red for about 5-7 days, but each day after I roll it gets less and less. If I roll friday Its still noticeable on monday, not asbad as friday but noticeable none the less.. but I go out in public anyways, I dont care. I only care about getting results..

Hi everyone,
Had a couple of questions.... Got my first 1.5 roll in the
books a few days ago.

1. I didn't have tons of blood. A lot of tiny blood spots
which I just wiped with sterile saline after finishing. Does
that sound about right to you with a 1.5 roll?
2. My main question...... I used EMLA numbing cream
and wrapped it for an hour. I did one cheek, waited 2 hours,
another cheek waited 2 hours, and then my forehead 2 hrs later.
When I initally started, the area was numb and it went well, but
after just a few minutes of rolling just one cheek area I could feel
the pain of the needle. I didn't put tons on emla on, and after removing
the saran wrap there was still some there, which I wiped off. Anyway
this roll was a struggle because of the pain. I just sucked it up and had
a good roll, but was difficult. The only thing I can think of is to really
goop on the emla before rolling, and perhaps buy a small roller to
penetrate. Maybe wait longer than an hour??? I was actually thinking
of shifting to a dermastamp, maybe the straight punching would be
less painful??

any thoughts are appreciated.

You need to get really good numbing cream like lidocaine/Prilocaine.My doc. ordered it for me,it was like $35.Second its not necessary to bleed all the time,i think that is a deceitfull gauge to go by.I had 3 rolls, all aggressive and had great improvements thus far, with little to no bleeding.

I use EMLA and ice packs - 3, one taken out of freezer at a time. I need the ice as the cream by itself isn't enough for me.

Always going to be sore I think but ice seemed to help me.

Anyone how has rolled a number of times feel that they have seen improvement on their nose?

I have about 8/9 what I assume are scarred pores on my nose and am hoping to lessen them if possible. Didn't have cysts on my nose, just appeared over the course of a few weeks earlier this year around teh time that my blackheads died down a bit. Gross, I hate blackheads!

Thanks greg09 and overcome for the pain advice.
I need to so a littler studying on lidocaine/prilocaine.
With ice I was worried about the water not being
sterile??? So I dunno?????????

Just wanted to say I really appreciate everyone
who posts here a lot. Good thing is we all know how to "do it".
We just have to implement what we know, be safe, etc.
