Pimples in the same place on both sides of the face!

20 posts in this topic

Hi everyone!

Can anyone who knows what their talking about please answer this question:

Why do pimples always come in pairs, meaning that if you get one on the left side of your face, you'll almost surely get another in the same place on the right? This makes it seem like the problem can't really be on the surface of the skin, because the chances of the exact same place being infected on both sides are slim, dont you think?

I had a similar issue and my only advice is its not an infection causing the pimples (well it is) but what I mean is what I found is they were caused by inflammation. Because your right it doesn't make sense for two pores on the opposite sides to get infected. Inflammation triggers are different for everyone so sadly I cant offer any more advice except not to be afraid to do some detective work on your skin

it makes sense. It's where you are growing your facial hair. Which should grow at identical lengths, and be symmetrical to eachother right?

Beards are usually even on each side you know.

But I always would get a cyst/pimple/little head that would appear in the same spot. Kinda in the middle of my lower cheek. I'd get a pimple. Next week it'd clear up with a redmark. And then after a couple days of relief I'd get another thing their.

It's repeated this cycle for honestly a year now.

Now that its ALMOST clear with accutane (speaking of that one spot, the final spot ironically) it's leaving this peachy like scar. It's not a ice pick indent, but more of an outdent. Pretty close to the same color, but bothersome. I just wonder what I'd feel like if this THING would go away on my cheek thats stayed there forever.

Yeah this is what my acne does.

I have large symmetrical post acne spots below my eyes.

and then two active spots on my cheeks.

I'm just a kid with acne.

Let's be buddies!

We could myspace.

Facebook, even.

Whatever the cool kids are doing nowadays.

yeah, i experience the same thing with symmetrical blemishes (as we speak, i have two small pustules on each cheek...sigh). I've heard that when theyre symmetrical, the cause is internal (inflammation, hormones, etc.).

Started Accutane (Claravis) on July 20, 2009!

My regimen:

Cleanse with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser morning and night

Moisturize with Olay Complete Sensitive Skin SPF 15 in the morning, Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream at night (works great for the whole body!)

Month 1: 40 mgs daily

Month 2-6: 80 mgs daily

Aquaphor on my lips constantly

8-10 cups of water a day

Aviane birth control (generic Alesse)

ya that causes Acne.

But I'm pretty sure that being acne prone has to do with you growing facial hair, whether it's peach fuzz or a full grown beard.

I know what I am talking about.

And the simple answer is: Pimples do not possess symmetric tendencies of any shape or form!

Yeah that always happens to me too...Like both of my cheeks have gotten really broken out. (Stupid me switched products faster than you can changer you underwear.) But at least my left cheek is getting better.

My regimen? That's simple. (If only I could stick to it and stop "experimenting" with other products.)

Morning/Night:

Proactiv Cleanser (Scrub for 2 minutes.)

Apply a little of the Proactiv Toner.

Apply Proactiv Repairing Lotion

Proactiv Green Tea Lotion. (Once face is COMPLETELY dry.)

Night: (After I wash my face.)

Bareminerals Blemish Treatment

Bareminerals Night Revival

Twice a week:

I use the Proactiv Restoring Mask.

(It may change once I can afford more Proactiv products & if I add Panoxyl soap.)

I love making new friends!

That is pure coincidence.

Look, acne is bad enough itself without making it worse by being superstitious about it!

Now just because YOU dont have symmetrical acne, dont label it superstition!

I do have it. I consider it a fact of life - when my left side breaks out, the right is sure to follow soon. Its the structure of the face right? (which is symmetrical), so that if I have weak/ill formed skin on my left jaw, the chance are.. I have weak/ill formed skin on the right jaw as well.

Ive noticed they all gather right in my smile creases - I think the skin stretching and creasing every time I smile has somehow irritated or blocked the pores there (like the same way as if you wear a hat it will irritate and block pores on your forehead) and since Ive had a lot of acne there, the skin condition in those 2 places has gotten worse.

They made a nice little home for pimples.. which destroyed the skin to the degree that it made a nice little home for cysts. Now i always have 2 - 3 cysts in exactly the same place on both sides. I tell you Im ready for round 2 of accutane because this differin stuff aint working!

Is it on the sides of your face? Maybe it's your pillowcase. This sometimes happens to me, and I've heard this can happen if you don't clean your pillowcase often enough. I wonder, if a pimple pops during the night and you roll over, could you be spreading the bacteria around while you sleep? Or it might be something in your detergent or fabric softener your skin is reacting to. Try replacing your pillowcase more often, and don't wash your sheets with fabric softener.

Symmetrical acne isn't superstition, I don't have the answer but I get it too. Not just on my face. I don't have bad acne, but I'll break out here and there. However, when I do, it's always in symmetry. Right now I have one just below my jaw sort of on my neck, and I also have a new one in the same spot on the other side. If I get one on the side of my chin, I always get it on the other side, one on my shoulder, one in the same spot on the other shoulder, etc. I have no idea why.

I get that too, it's like they are symmetrical on each side of my face, I get one by the side of my mouth then another one pops up the other side. I have many big red ones on my cheeks that are in line with the other side.

I have the same thing!

Check it out:

post-135166-1281086754_thumb.jpg

And I get them in EXACTLY the same F***ing place every time!

For me, sugar is the real enemy. If you're like me then cut out all processed sugar and absolutely don't eat sugary foods - such as 99% of breakfast cereals - in the morning.

Also, don't eat spicy foods and don't smoke.

I got these latest spots because I drank a load of sugary energy drinks.

I have noticed this symmetry many times. I would get a pimple on left temple and another on the right temple.

its kinda funny and amazing :)

That happens on my chin...first one will pop out and then the next day another one will pop out on the exact opposite side of my chin. I've wondered about that too...makes no sense at all. Unless this is some kind of nefarious plot to create "balance" in my life m-m-m-m-m-m-m
