Hi, i've been reading up on the food stuff. And it looks like EFA (essential fatty acids) are very important. These days were getting a lot of bad fats. Those make us fat and they block the absorption of the healthy fats.
Now, i have a very low fat percentage (i'm a bit muscular, but you can still see my ribs) and i dont eat a lot of fat. No matter how much i eat, i wont gain much weight. Maybe there is something wrong with the way my body treats those fats.

Anyway, from what i understand were getting too much Omega-6 , and we need to consume more omega-3 fatty acids. They are healthy for our cells, can help with inflammation and are DHT inhibitors.

Anyone have any more information about all this?? I'm still a newbie concerning the food theory's, but i think this is very important.

I've been eating a lot of wallnuts lately. Are nuts a good source for EFA's? (yeah, i know, fat fish is the best, but my mom cooks so....).

Yeah EFAs are essential. They recommended a 2:1 ratio of omega 3 to omega 6. These days our diets are more like a 1:30 ratio. Anyway, EFAs help to manufacture prostaglandins which I believe bind to excess hormones and deactivate them. They are sent to the bowels and you poop and they go away. At least we all hope thats what happens. If you don't have regular bowel movements then the hormones can get reactivated within the bowel and come back to play. It also helps to take a mutli-vitamin to help protect the EFAs from oxidizing too fast.

I don't think EFA's will completely rid you of acne, but they can help abate it in mild cases. They also help with the dry skin on accutane, and have a number of other benefits, so it's worth eating more of them anyway!
Walnuts are an excellent source of both OMega 3 and Omega 6, although there is some debate as to whether the iodine in walnuts is likely to aggravate acne.

yeah, i've been eating almonds lately. The un-salted, un-sweetened kind. You really can't improve on nature. I am quickly becoming a believer of the all natural lifestyle.

Peter - does that mean you live outside in a cave/garden with only a fig leaf to protect your modesty? tongue.gif
Almonds are an excellent all-round source of nutrients, but they don't contain many Omega 3's, like walnuts do. They do contain Omega 6's though.
Jc - I'm puzzled - in your regimen thread you say that you avoid all fats including nuts... have you made an exception for almonds?

salmon and flaxseed
those are my magic weapons for omega-3 B)

btw: you need omega-6, omega-6 is divided into 2 compounds one what gives you infections and one that reduces and minimalize infections. try to search the internet about GLA

your getting there wink.gif
:: what would you buy? ::

1 - the ugly colored and graved with bird shit all over it, but Porsche/Lamborgini shaped car what could take you like a jet plane?

2 - or the amazing static red colored shiny, with the green glow under the car but is shaped like a lame cube where old folks drive in?

[image removed by sigbot--see board rules] the same goes for acne and the girls who choose the guy's [image removed by sigbot--see board rules]

ps: I don't know cars, only girls... but you got the point.
