I found this while I was researching Olay products for my daughter. She tends to be really dry because of the meds she takes. But she has acne. I'm going to buy this for her and encourage her to use this regimen. I'll report back.

Hey Zhalvajegirl!! Just wanted to say thank you for bringing these products to my attention. Would never have bought them to help my acne in a million years. I have had one pimple all month and that was during a certain time of the month. Thank you so much. My confidence is up and I'm finally OK with wearing my hair up at work and feeling confident that people aren't stairing at my bad acne. Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!!

Are you sure you don't work for Olay? Just askin ;)

Hi,

I was really eager to try this, so I went out and bought the Olay Regenerist night recovery cream tonight. I must say that it is quite perfumey! I just want to warn people about that in case they have sensitive noses. For me, the fragrance is a bit overpowering, so I don't think I can use this product. However, I already have the fragrance-free Regenerating Serum so I'll try that instead. I noticed that someone on this forum had said that the regenerating serum made them break out so I compared the ingredients of the two products. It turns out that the ingredients are exactly the same except that the night recovery cream has petrolatum, which is the same as petroleum jelly. Petrolatum is not comedegenic but as far as I know it doesn't do anything to help acne either. So the two products should really have the same effectiveness.

Anyway, bottom line, if you don't want something too perfumey, try the regenerating serum instead of the night recovery cream. I haven't tried it yet, but I'll post again and let ya'll know how things go.

Thank you so much for posting about your success using the Oil of Olay Regenerist products!! Your post was "god-send" for me :) I've been alternating between the Regenerist Cream Cleanser and the Regenerist Micro-Purifying Foaming Cleanser (I like this one best...I use it with a gentle scrub brush), and using the Recovery Cream and night and the Deep Hydration Cream during the day for 2 weeks now. I also use Witch Hazel morning and night as astringent and 2.5% BP at night under the Recovery Cream. My results aren't as good as yours were in that time, but it's getting better. I had a really bad initial break-out, but I stuck with it and it's finally starting to clear up. Also, my skin looked really oily and bumpy the first week and a half...I think just because it wasn't used to all the moisture. But it's starting to regulate itself now and seems much happier. I'll post some before and after pictures once it's finally 100% clear.

I'm going to stick with it until the 2 moisturizers are gone, then I'm going to switch to the Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum at night and the Regenerist Reversal Treatment Foam during day, because they're the only regenerist moisturizers that don't have any parabens.

Thanks again for your post!! I hope everyone has as much success with these great products :)

Ok, so I'm going to try out your daily routine. I, like many others I see on this thread, am Asian (Filipino) and have skin issues. I'm 37 and had terrible acne through middle and high school with very oily skin. I have tried SOOOO many things I couldn't begin to name them all.

Over the past couple years I've jumped on the Proactive bandwagon and it was working good. I have a few breakouts here and there and the pimple/cyst lasting forever it seemed. Once in a while I could go a couple weeks without having any breakouts but my skin remained oily and never looked fresh and healthy. I have noticed that over the past few months it has gotten worse with more regular breakouts so once again I am on the hunt.

I hear so many good things about Olay products and always wanted to try them but never saw anything in their line targeting acne so I did a search online and found this thread, ran out and bought the products (including purchasing Daniel's BP online so can't wait for that to come, just using one I purchased from the store last night for now) and crossing my fingers.

I used it last night and noticed that my skin was softer, smoother and fresh feeling. This morning I noticed that the pimples that I have are not as red and I actually don't 'feel' them on my face. I realize that there's an adjustment curve to this so I have no issues sticking with it for the full 3 weeks and I'm looking forward to the outcome and hoping this will be my last product switch.

My daughter is 16 and has been cursed with my skin also. As soon as I know she can commit to the daily ritual I'm sure she'll want to use it too but only then will I supply her with the product line lol.

Your skin looks amazing! Hope I'm on my way there too!

Thanks,

JJ

Hello everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Sorry I haven't been on here in a loooong time. Thank you to those who have tried my regimen and posted feedbacks. I think its great that I'm not the only one raving about these products. It makes it so much more believable :)...And no, I do not work for oil of olay. But if someone would like to start a petition for me to get paid for getting the word out, please please let me know where to sign up (j/k!).

Yes, I'm still using the products I have listed before. Yes, it's still working for me. I don't believe I'm ever going to stop using them. It took me over 15 years to find the regimen that really worked for me, it just wouldnt make sense for me to stop now. I am sorry to say that some of the acne scars didnt go away like some of you have hoped it would. It's not much of a bother to me at this point really. All I care about is getting rid of the acne. For those that don't have them yet, DO NOT PICK ON YOUR PIMPLES!!!! Leave them alone. That's what causes all the scars. Give your regimen a chance to do all that work for you. Please feel free to post your updates, feedback, opinions and violent reactions (if any) with regards to this regimen. A before and after photo would be great! Help other people out in making an informed decision. I share my experience in the hopes that it will help someone out there with their struggle with acne because I know how frustrating it can get. Good luck!

I purchased the Olay Regenerist Revitalising cream to use in the day time after applying BP & was wondering if anyone else experienced the slight burning sensation? I'm not sure if this is due to the BP or the cream. I couldn't find the deep moisturising cream so opted for that one instead. I really hope I didn't waste my money :eh:

Has anyone else tried the revitalising cream?

Thanks so much for sharing this. I really, really want to try this, but I have to wait till next week when I have the money to buy it. I hope it works for me as it did for everyone else that had great words to say about it! I have a few questions for the people who are using this.

1. I'm sorry if you said this already, but do you apply BP to your whole face or just to spots that have acne? I'm getting so sick of BP cream and I don't like applying it everywhere.

2. I see that the cleanser comes in two varieties. One is a foaming cleanser. Is this better or is the non foaming one better? I ask because the foaming one is more expensive.

3. It looks like you use 2 different moisturizers for night and day. Does it matter to use two different ones? I'm just trying to see if I can save money anywhere ;)

4. How long do the products last you? The moisturizers are less than 2 oz so I can't imagine long :/

Hi! Yes, I do apply the BP all over my face and neck. I only use the 2.5% one and I've never had any problems with it. I think the two most important products I wouldn't be caught dead without is the BP and the night cream. The cleanser and the daytime moisturizer you can probably substitute with other products that you prefer. I personally like the non-foaming one with the beads. It just gives me a cleaner feeling. I know the night cream is a bit expensive for the size of the bottle it comes in, so I would advise to use it sparingly. The little bottle usually lasts me over a month or so. Good luck!

Just wanted to post up my experience, thanks to your advice I picked up the Night Cream and Deep Moisturizer products. For many years I have been on all type of topical treatments, minocycline, and even accutane. Nothing worked greatly for me without side effects and I could tell my skin was totally trashed from all of that damage.

So about a month or two ago I decided to give your recommendations a try and I can very happily say that I get pimples much less regularly, with a much smaller amount of cysts and/or big pimples. I can also say that my skin just generally feels and looks much healthier. I am completely sold on the night time cream, it sometimes tingles a bit when I put it on but the next morning my skin looks and feels amazing!! The deep moisturizer I am not as completely sold on, but it does seem to be a good product as well.

I am now adding paula's choice 2% BHA liquid in hopes of utilizing that to both exfoliate and clear out my pores. I'm hoping with this combination I can finally find my "cure" and I have had acne, for a few years absolutely terrible - hence the accutane, almost 9 years now and this is probably the best my skin has ever been. So far, I would highly recommend this night time cream. Thanks for sharing your experience and findings OP.

i just went out and bought the "regenerist night recovery CREAM". Is this the same thing as the night recovery moisture treatment that you use?

So this is used in conjunction with bp gel? i have been using duac gel (5% bp + clindamycin) every morning and isotrexin gel (topical isotretinoin) every night. I have been worried about the bp because i heard it thins the skin and makes it more sensitive, and that any kind of exfoliation should be avoided while using it. So the combination of bp and regenerist, is that not too harsh for the skin?

I just wanted to say after reading the OP I went out and bought the regenerist night cream...I've only been using it a week now and my skin is SO much smoother! It is pricey but totally worth it. I have very mild scarring (think orange peel texture) and this cream has already improved it more than I would have ever thought possible! Thank you so much for suggesting this!

Wow! Thank you to those who are sharing their own experiences with Olay (good and bad). I'm sure its a big help to those who have yet to make their final decision. I'm just popping in to give a quick response to some of the questions I havent answered yet so here goes:

1.) post bcp acne: I really don't know. Are you talking about birth control pills? I was on it before too, so if worked for me, I guess it does. Again, it's not a definite answer

2.)sunscreen: I only use it when I need it (i.e. going to be out in the sun for a long time). I use one from olay with spf 15 (i cant remember the exact product name)

3.) water only vice cleanser: I have always used a face wash of some form or another, so yet another question I really can't answer definitively.

4.) yes, I use Olay with 2.5% BP. It works just as well, if not better, than 5% or 10% BP (less harsh on the skin)

5.)regenerist night recovery cream is correct. Its a purple cream that comes in a little purple jar

Alright! I think I got them all. Gotta run folks! I'm off to some pretty little island in the middle of the pacific!

Thank you for sharing your solution!

What really caught my eye (as I'm sure many others can say as well) were your before and after photos.

When I was in my teens I had moderate acne. When I was 18, it lessened to barely a blemish per month, however I could not attribute it to any one treatment as a myriad of things changed for me: 18 being an age I may have just grown out of it, started taking Diane bcp, stopped using medicated/acne-prone type skin care and just switched to gentle, "normal" skin products. Before that I had tried every product under the sun. I always had this niggling feeling that the more acne-geared products I used, the more stubborn my acne was. Recently, I went off Diane (and am not willing to go back on it) and my acne returned in FULL FORCE. Sal. acid products didn't work. Neither did Proactiv.

Well, I bought the Olay Regenerist Night Recovery Cream first about a 2 weeks ago, used it in conjuction with Proactiv repairing lotion (2.5% BP). I did notice that my cysts were healing faster and I was not getting new ones. Seeing as I was planning to stop using Proactiv and just go get my money back for it, I switched out the Repairing lotion and used my 5% Panoxyl BP aquagel instead. Now this stuff is DRYING. I had used it in the past, and while it did shrink my pimples It left my skin SO dry and flaky that I refused to use it except as a spot treatment.

A weird fact about my skin is that I noticed the drier it is, the worse my acne gets. So drying treatments would shrink pimples, but encourage more new ones to form! Anyway, so this was in conjunction with my normal "young skin" moisturizers. (Clinique, Neutrogena, Clean & Clear). While these moisturizers were great with unmedicated cleansers, they wouldn't get rid of the dry, tight, flaking skin I got with BP products, nor the acne that came along with it.

Regenerist DID. I feel as if all the moisture and "regenerating" I got from the Olay made up for the dry, flaky "crust" of a skin BP normally gave me, so it could actually WORK. Due to a house moving situation, I was without my products for 4 days so had to use some basic, non medicated stuff and guess what? That nightmare patch on my cheek that seems to be producing one new cyst each day, but had calmed down while I was using Regenerist? It broke out again. 3 NEW CYSTS! Now I may be jumping the gun, so I plan to return to this forum in several weeks time to update on my progress but long story short...

For this 22 year old with acne-prone, combination/norm/sensitive (I've never figured it out. I get shine and flakes in the same place...) skin, Olay Regenerist Night Recovery Cream:

-made my non-breakout prone areas (upper cheeks, nose, jaw) skin very smooth and radiant

-moisturizes exceptionally to combat acne-medication induced dryness

-does NOT feel greasy or heavy, nor did it cause any additional oil/shine compared to the lighter moisturizers I mentioned.

-did not break me out

-made my previously ineffective BP lotion work

-seems to be fading hyperpigmentation and smoothing out some very, very shallow acne scarring on cheeks. (again, will report later)

I'll be back with more news later once I give my breakouts a chance to heal.

Zhalvajegirl,

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS!!!!! After reading your post it made SO much sense to start using the regenerist products. I've had acne since I was 12 (now 23) and it was getting ridiculous continuously using typical acne products that are really intended for teenagers.

I use the micro-purifying cleanser and the night time recovery cream, but I also use the Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System (it's like a Clairsonic) so that the cleanser gets down deep to the pore. I've only been doing this for about week and my skin has already improved a TON!

Anyone who is nervous to try this because of the price or just because switching products makes you nervous, trust me, this stuff is amazing and SO worth it.

My Regimen

Morning:
*Apply Olay Regenerist Micropurifying Foaming wash & use Clarisonic
(Love, love, love this thing!!)
*Estee Lauder Day Wear Moisturizer

Night:
*Olay Regenerist Micro-Purifying Foaming Cleanser
*Olay Regenerist Night Recovery Cream

Miscellaneous:
*Yaz BC *TCA Peels (15%) *Steam treatment *Psyllium Husk Caps

Current Status: Clear

I have been using the regenerist products for a few years now and i love them!! I use the Regenerist cleanser and then the Regenerist UV Defense SPF 15 lotion for the day after I apply my benzaclin and at night I use the Regenerist Deep Hydration Cream. I have used the night recovery cream before and loved it but I like the Deep Hydration Cream better. I do think they both work great on acne scars though. Great products!!! I get mine on ebay and they are so much cheaper than the stores.

Hi, it's been a few more weeks, just thought I'd pop in with a progress report. So my skin is not quite clear yet, but I am not giving up on these products as they are slowly but surely giving results. I find that any pimples I do get now heal MUCH faster. I've had a couple (I think 1 or 2) bouts of breakouts since this l last posted: two or three semi-deep cysts? (I don't know if I will call them that anymore as they aren't nearly as big, red or painful as the ones I used to get. They are still under the surface and hard though). But they healed remarkably quickly. To be quite fair, these breakouts seem to be triggered by me being lazy with the regimen. As always, the non breakout prone areas of my face look absolutely wonderful. Baby's bum smooth and radiant!

I do have a tip for those that may be experiencing BP-induced dryness in the more sensitive, usually clear areas of the face (for me, it was under-eye to upper-cheek, temples, and jawline). This started about a week into the regimen. I found that applying the BP before the Regenerist, caused the BP to migrate to areas of the face that I didn't want it to be on. Thus I was left with some flaking and even dry, bumpy patches under my jaw. I then switched the order of the two and it seems to have corrected the problem. I now apply my BP lotion only to breakout-prone areas AFTER I've applied regenerist all-over. No more dryness, and no more smeared BP to where I didn't need it! Now, the BP'd areas are not quite as soft when I'm done, but I'd rather have that than the flakes and WRINKLES! by the lord, the dryness made it look like I had under-eye wrinkles! If need be, I'll apply a little additional Olay sensitive skin lotion on the BP'd areas after it's dry if I plan to wear makeup.

Again, will keep posting. From experience, I know that it's frustrating to read acne regimen posts only to find a lack of progress updates or reports back in the long run. Zhalva is doing a great job here so I'd like to add my 2 cents in!

A quick re-cap of my last post in this thread if anybody is tracking progress.
