Fresh scars and vaseline

6 posts in this topic

As the title mentions, does vaseline help scars in any way?

I'm mainly talking about ice pick scars here.

I think keeping the scar moist during healing should help healing but im not really sure if it works that way..

Has anyone got anything to add to this?

Anyone tried it?

Copper peptides or retin-A. Not sure if the 2 can be used together. Copper peptides can be bought without a prescription. Also take fish oils. They are good foe you anyway, so at worst your are being healthy.

Cheers!

I was more concerned about the whole vaseline thing though...

Is it doing my scarrs any damage? Or any good? or doing nothing at all!

Thanks

Bump

It's good as a moisturizer. Try cetaphil cream if you like vaseline; one of the main ingredients is petrolatum, which is what vaseline is composed of.

You might also want to try aquaphor. I used it right after I had scar revision surgery and it really helped me.
