blossom: washing your face with water every few days would be fine i would think. when i was clear like 4 years ago, i never consciously "washed" my face (not even with water). i reckon the water in the shower would have touched my face, thats it. I might even start putting some water on my face every 5 days or so bcos it prob isnt natural to never have water touch my face. Im undecided on this though. Nothing (including water) has touched my face for over 2 weeks. I started 3 weeks ago with limited water. also, i'll let you know about the runnning thing when i eventually start doing my hill sprints again..i didnt run the other day cos i was madly doing study and it is was unusually cold outside. soft i know ha

BIGDADDY: it does take balls. i gained inspiration from alexalmighty and waterwater.

RockstarNailbomb: im not very familiar with accutane but my understanding is that it puts a stop to sebum production, does it not?? maybe thats false?? thats what i thought anyway. considering that the acid mantle is a mixture of sebum and sweat, i think accutane would have a detrimental effect on the acid mantle.

Edit: it would prob take more balls to do this for other people. For one, my skin has never been oily so i cant relate to most ppl. People have had success with this and they began with oily skin (alexalmighty and waterwater).

Checking back in again. I'm actually happy with my skin for the time being. It might get worse if I dont sleep properly this week, and my diet is bad, but for now its going sort of well. I dont want to jinx it like always so lets pretend i never said that.

adam i am reallly!!! curious about that sweat and not showering method my brother lost all his acne when he did boxing... and he doesnt care about his acne and his smell lol so he never showered but now he is 100% clear it didnt make sense to me first. so comment back about the running thing smile.gif

so i did my hill sprints like 3 days ago. felt sick within 10 minutes (hadnt exercised for a while - unsure about my limit) but once that went away i felt amazing for hours after. exercise is great

so anyway, and importantly, i didnt wash my face afterwards (i did sweat a lot). yeh i showered but water didnt touch my face. as i suspected, i am yet to break out.

i thought id mention a couple of things:

i also havent applied any 'soothing' cream to my lips for like a month now. i cant recall ever having dry, chapped lips as a teen/child. i reckon i only started getting it when i was applying those damn lip balms (totally unrelated to acne). my lips feel really good at moment since ive avoided the cream

as i said before, ive put shampoo in my hair like twice in my lifetime. my hair is great with just water. i was doing a little research on the shampoo and hair thing and some people recommend shampoo users to get off the shampoo so that the hair can return to normal with its normal oils etc (takes like 6 weeks or so apparently)..hmmmmmmm

^ I just shampoo once every 3 days now. The other days I have olive oil on my hair overnight. My hair is starting to get really shiny (I have black hair).

I used to shampoo like everyday before.

Question for you guys having success with this- what kind of acne do you have?

My skin is not really oily, more like very dry and flakey, with a great excess of dead skin build up constantly. I get tons of whiteheads, blackheads, pustules and the rare cyst.

Do you think this would work for me??

My acne is mostly pustules, some small whiteheads, and I've had like 3 blackheads my whole life.

When my acne flares up, its big BIG pustules, but yeah, its usually pustules that range from small to really big.

I generally only get 3-6 pimples at a time, and at my worst its usually around 8-9 pimples, ranging from small whiteheads to big papules. Usually though, I'll only have one or two BIG pimples at a time. So I guess I go from mild to moderate. I've also gotten cysts in the past but they're more rare.

lol, my skin stopped being oily since I've been using only water and oil :S

It might, but what do you use at the moment? How long have you used topicals? What is your family history of acne?

If your skin is already dry and flakey using whatever you're using (assuming its not only wateR) than you need to calm down on it and maybe stop or regress its usage.

Count me in for this regimen.

I've been washing my face only at night for about 2 weeks now.

ACNE is reverting to pre-accutane stage with more frequent breakouts and huge pus-filled cyst/nodules on to the right of my right eye (between forehead and the cheeks).

Fingers crossed for the absolute best.

olive oil is extremely thick bro it broke me out when i tried it. you should try a thinner carrier oil like walnut or sweet almond or at least dilute the oo with shitloads of water before you apply it. I currently use coconut oil since its the only one that doesnt have a bad smell but i dilute it alot with water before i apply it. I only apply it after showering though since thats the only time i put water on my face and i leave it on all day

^ Well, I only leave it on for 20 mins, not the whole day. And it hasnt broke me out yet. In fact, when I DONT use it, my flake starts flaking again a little, so I'm actually goin to use it twice a day now since its winter up here in Toronto and it will make my face dry as shit.

I heard cocunut oil was really good though. I wanna get it, but more for my hair.

to be honest, as hard as it is, i reckon literally doing nothing (some water okay) is the best way to approach this regimen. Like waterwater and alexalmighty, my flakes seem to be going away on their own without the use of any oils. I think that you can get really good results by doing nothing but natural oils but like i said, i think doing literally nothing is most effective. The way i see it is that the flakes are there for a reason and once you let them go on their own, they go for good. ive been fortunate though becasue i only got flakes mostly on my chin and bits elsewhere (plus im on study vacation). I can understand that doing nothing is nearly impossible for a lot of people because of the dead skin accumulation. i just think that the dead skin is there for a reason and by applying oil it just keeps coming back.

Well, the thing about how I've been doing it was just modifying your original approach. The reason is because by the time I discovered this thread, I was well into the "no topical" phase, and washing with only water has been great for my skin. The olive oil was only added cause I read its benefits and it was lying around, so I wanted to give it a try. Plus, my flaking is pretty much gone now, and my skin looks smooth most of the time. I have one pimple at the moment, and the pimple I had yesterday has already disappeared.

I did nothing to the flakes for about a week. Right when I STARTED using OO, is when the flakes started decreasing themselves, so I'm assuming the olive oil just sped up the process. Plus, I used to hate using lotion so OO has been great for me. It's just seriously water and olive oil....that's my big combination. Well, and some supplements (Cod liver oil, vitamin C). But once again, I'm not CLEAR CLEAR yet....I still have pimples but the scale of them is like "barely noticeable" to "somewhat noticeable" wheras it used to be "ONE HUGE MOTHERFUCKER ABOUT TO EXPLODE AND WORLD CAN SEE" levels.

How is your skin holding up Adam? Pimples wise I mean.

i dont have one active pimple at the moment which isnt surprising because my skin actually feels normal. Normal feels great. Its like you cant feel your face if that makes sense. like no feeling of a pimple emerging, no irritation, no itchiness, no pulsating, no soreness etc..

flakes have decided to leave on thier own which is great. just got some dead skin on the left side of my chin which will eventually be gone.

if you only leave it on 20 min wouldnt your skin just go back to being dry after you washed it off?

hey man, how much active pimples did you have before you started this method, what do you think for me, I only got acne on my chin and around my lips, my cheeks and forehead has only ever had like one pimple so all thats fine, but for my chin and around my lips I get like alot white heads and some time just big red pimples. my skin never oily its more dry ill say, ive only been on BP for 4 days now, before that I just use cepthaphil face wash and washing my face alot and that dint improve anything, but do you think doing your method will benfit me?
