the caveman regimen

So I'm guessing you're not allowed to use makeup at all on this regimen? I would like to start as soon as possible but I don't finish school until May (six weeks out) and I'm not sure if I want to finish off the semester looking like a pepperoni pizza. If makeup is allowed, is it only organic? Do I have to just clean it off with water?

Allowed? Are there police?

Most of this caveman stuff s nonsense. not disrupting skin function with soap or cleansers is good. The no water, dead skin masks & & any other claims or rules are nonsense.

I haven't used and soap or cleanser except foot hand washing in several years. I wear mineral powder foundation. I wash with water & a cloth. And use oil to remove eye makeup.

Would love to hear how this works out. I wonder if part of the reason I have acne is because I got one or two spots, went ape shit and started treating the hell out of it, and then ended up just making it worse.

that is exactly what happened to me and im soo trying to fix it. that's why I started this. about 5-6 months ago I had perfect skin but I had maybe two tiny little pimples (not even) and I decided to use a cleanser by neutrogena on my face. it didn't bother me. until I bought this other scrub from neutrogena that was made specifically for oily, acne-prone skin. I don't have acne prone skin. I gave myself acne-prone skin. so I started breaking out from the sudden change of products. so I bought proactiv. it didn't do much for me and burned my skin like crazy. so I dropped it. cold turkey. and at the time I didn't know that you can't just stop benzoyl peroxide. so now my skin is soo bad. but I'm not sure if this is the right path for me. considering that even when I had perfect skin I didn't use anything at all. I used water but that was it. soo right now my skin is dry and dark and brown. it's dead skin and it looks horrible. I'm hoping this is a healing process because I fear that I might just be making it worse and once I take the dead skin off, I'll just have more acne.

Why is this called the Caveman regime? Why do we think that Cavemen didn't groom themselves or wash their faces? Also, why do we assume that they didn't have acne?

Every mammal has some sort of grooming ritual. Early humans probably did too.

I'm doing a version of this regimen. I'm on day 8 now and things are going amazingly! I'm trying not to get too excited yet. The only thing I'm doing daily is wiping my face with green tea after I workout just for a teeny bit of exfoliation and to remove the excess sweat. So far, my results have been amazing. My skin looks great and it gets better every day. I have noticed 2 to 3 whiteheads but they're gone withina day or two. I'll post again in a few days with my progress. I am also a girl and I have been using a tiny bit of makeup. A few days ago I did use some honey to take off the makeup but I used makeup today (Just concealer) and I'm not going to wash it off. I think it will be fine because it was only a small amount. I'm planning on using honey on my face once a week and seeing how that goes this month. So far I am super excited because it seems like it's actually working!

I think you have to give it more than a week or so...i'm on day 15 i think...and its up and down but it seems to be working over all..i'm definitely giving it another couple weeks before i make my decision. Hang in there!

Ok I definitely want to encourage people to hang in there at least a month. I almost quit because around the two week mark, I started breaking out (small surface ones) all over my forehead. I panicked because it was so bumpy and it looked so congested. So then of course I picked at it amd it looked terrible and I got really depressed. BUT, I was determined to stick it out a few more days and not pick...its been magically clearing suddenly. I'm on day 20. I wipe my face with green tea everyday after I work out amd use a tiny bit of spot concealer and I wash my face with a mild soap every 4 days or so. I almost gave up. Right when you feel like giving up, just try to make yourself stick it out a few more days. You might be surprosed to find you're almost at the turning point. Be patient amd don't freak out at the break out around day 14

Just an update, in case anyone is still reading this thread; my skin looks FABULOUS. I have NO active acne at the moment and my forehead is totally clear. Just a few old marks on my cheeks bt those are fading too...this is amazing. I'm on day 24

Gosh, i can't believe I've made it something like 36 days! ...however, my skin isn't perfectight now. I've noticed that my old trouble spots statred to act up. It was almost like pimples popped up under the old acne marks on my cheeks...i'm hoping they're done or almost done...other than that, everything else is going ok. I think it will take several months for my skin to be perfect. I'm struggling with wanting to do SOMETHING lol. I was a girl that loved her facemasks and skin rituals lol. So im tempted to still throw in a gentle clay mask occasionally...i don't know

I guess it was just purging because its ALL gone now!! Geez i guess its been 6 weeks now. I'm sticking with this forever. My final regimen:

Once a day/every other day splash face with water or wipe with green tea

Fridays: very gentle Moroccan Rhassoul clay

Rhassoul clay is like bentonite clay, just more gentle, it doesn't dry the skin at all. Its pricey, but it should last awhile because i'm only using it once a week. I mix it with rose water or acv

Tuesdays: Gently exfoliate with sponge and very very mild soap. I don't even know what this soap is, a friend brought it back from Taiwan, but i do not need a moisturizer after using it. My skin feels smooth and soft after...of course i'm only using it once a week, so that might be why lol.

I use NO moisturizer EVER except a teeny drop of vit C serum only under my eyes.

So I'm practically doing nothing, just one washing a week, and one mask, staggered so my skin is getting cleansed every 3/4 days amd its going GREAT!!!! I'm super happy. I wish more people would come around these posts again because it DOES work...at least for alot of ppl...and me lol. And i was terrified to try it and almost gave up at day 14 and again around day 28 or 30...but now on day 42 or so, the purging is over, not more spots, no congestion, just smooth skin and a few fading marks

SUCCESS!!!!!

I have been doing the hardcore caveman method for three weeks... But have yet to develop a dead skin mask.

My skin is on the oily side, from over using chemicals on my face. At least, I think so. I never had oily skin until the last couple of years, and everyone in my family, both mom and dad's side, have really dry, acne free skin.

Could the oil on my skin be preventing the dry skin mask? However, the oil production has decreased tons in the last 3 weeks. So I'm somewhat concerned that I am doing something wrong. Maybe because I practically sleep with my face in my pillow... Could that be removing the dry skin?
