I did some picking damage to my cheek a little over a week ago. I now have this pink and shiny skin where the scab peeled off. It came off in the shower, I didn't peel it off. It looks weird on my face but I am assuming it is the normal color of new skin. My question is, how do I get it to heal faster and become matching to my skin tone?
I'm not sure if this is the same thing as a red mark though, and I don't think it's PIH...?
Help??

neosporin is a good choice! Just to let you know if you are fair skinned (caucasian) you may be lucky and get no hyperpigmentation from it and may have slight redness which will eventually fade. If you are very lucky it will just blend in with your natural skin tone fairly quickly. If you are unlucky and maybe are darker skinned there is a good chance once the new skin slowly heals it will also turn slightly brownish, purplish and melanocytes are pushed up, in this case you will have hypeprigmentation. Regardless of what you have, it will all eventually fade to the natural colour of your skin.

This is normal after a scab peels off. I advise to not try to pick the scabs off yourself but rather let them fall off by themselves to minimize pinkness underneath. If it's just a little pink, apply aloe vera gel and/or moisturizer. It will go away in a couple weeks. Trust me, pink marks should be the least of your worries.

thanks!! i feel a lot better. I really need to go get the aloe. And I never pick off scabs. I just have a really bad problem with picking at my skin which results in scabs. I am very fair skinned and hope this mark doesn't stay for long!!

The suggestions above are great, but sunscreen is essential to reduce the possibility of hyperpigmentation.
