I had moderate acne and bacne since I was about 15, tried literally everything: antibiotics, prescriptions, tonnes of topicals, bp, you know the story, each seemingly making things worse. After all these crappy products making my skin worse I did a bit of research and came across the BeautySkin acne treatment lamp, had a hefty price tag of 179 but I thought id give it a go so I got it in September 07. Didn't make much of a difference, with 6 months of use so I did some more research on alternatives.

This is when I found this forum, I can honestly say I would still look like I did in the first photo if I didn't find this place. After obsesive research I found that many had great results through diet and natural methods, so though id give it a shot seeing as id already tried everything else.

Suffered an IB which lasted bout 4 days, after 2 weeks i saw significant improvment, took 3 months to get clear

Diet Changes

No Diary - rice milk instead
Cut down on gluten and wheat - gluten and wheat free bread and pasta
No Chocolate, cakes bisquits, sweets, all the nice things!!
Drink 1 green tea a day
Drink 3 litres of water a day
Drink 2 tbs of ACV diluted with a glass of innocent smoothie twice a day
Swap normal rice with brown rice
Eat a slice of salmon every 3 days
Drink cider instead of beer (cut out alcohol...? jog on!!)
Take 2 magnesium/vitamin d3/calcium/zinc tablets a day (all in one tablet)
Drink a glass of green smoothie everyday - blueberries, strawberries, ginger, broccoli, baby spinach & parsley

Other Changes

Wash face with salt water in morning, Baby Brush with salt water in evening
Use roll on deodorant
Use Oil Cleansing Method twice a week (Jojoba:Castor:Grapeseed Oil 2:2:1)
Change pillow case 3 times a week
Try to excercise every day
Use emu oil as moisteriser and to reduce dark marks under eyes
Use natural shampoo and shaving cream from lush
15 mins of beauty skin acne lamp a day
Use anew retexturing peel wipes for red marks - these are awsome, reduce blackheads and close pores on upper cheek and nose

100% clear of whiteheads
3 weeks into using anew retexturing peel wipes which are reducing red marks and significantly closing pores on upper cheeks and on nose

Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or hump it; Piss on it and walk away.

Holistic is the way to go.

Current Regimen (10/05/08)

- 15 ml Cod liver oil ( anti inflammatory + Vitamin A + Vitamin D) near bedtime

- 50 mg Zinc , 4* 500 mg Vitamin C, B-Complex

- Avoid hydrogenated Vegetable oils (biggest trigger in breakouts), Sugar, dairy,and processed stuff (very definite triggers)

- Sleep before 11:00 Pm (3 weeks + now)

- Get early morning sunlight for 10-15 minutes.

- Exercise (Stretching+Running) every single day of the week for 30-45 minutes (2 weeks now)

Current Skin status:

About 95 percent (+) clear. I am happy :D

i just saw ur pics on the emo section, congrats, ur skin looks so good now,u look great!! u have sacraficed a lot though, same with me , hope mine improves like yours!!! thanks very much for the inspiration. gives me some hope!!!!

Nice job man. You didnt even do any major diet changes I think, so you are pretty lucky biggrin.gif

What are yer normally eating during the day? Lots of vegetables, meat and fruits? Are you sticking to a paleo diet or something? Or just normal foods, while avoiding dairy, sugar and so on?
Get to the root of the problem.

Well done! Diet changes can be difficult and results aren't always apparent until several weeks. It takes alot of dedication to reach where you are at. Again, congratulations.

i feel iv made drastic changes, used to eat lots of pizza, fast food, chocolate, sweets, loads of bread, LOTS of beer, not much fruit n veg and iv cut all of that shit out and eat lots of fruit n veg.

i have a green smoothie durin the day which has loads of veg, n innocent smoothie which has loads of fruit. have normal meals, with obv low gluten, wheat contents.

dunno what a paleo diet is.

Congratulations your skin looks great! Now that your clear do you plan to experiment with any of the foods you omitted? Ive had really good results on a diet similar to yours only a little more extreme on the zero grain/low carb side. After many months eating zero dairy Ive added butter and yogurt back into my diet to test it out. Its been about a week and everything is still looking good. I plan experiment with non glutenous grains like rice and quinoa soon as well.

I didn't know that salt water helps acne? Thats the first time I heard this eusa_think.gif So it doesn't irritate the skin at all?

whats a roll on deodorant?

I been looking for good natural shampoos and shaving creams for a while. Mine sometimes irritate my skin sad.gif So the company that makes them is Lush?

Hey I am curious, what does salt water do for skin? I know people have talked about it before, but any reason as to what it does? I would love to know, I may try it too.

People always think the key to fighting acne is to avoid foods, but in actually it's usually what they're NOT eating that's causing it to happen. It made no sense to start with omitting the small things that MAY cause acne for SOME people. Start with the basics of nutrition. You're a human, not an accumulation of minor problems from every person! Not everyone reacts to the same foods. Not everyone has issues with wheat and such foods. Start with the basics of good nutrition and THEN see what happens, omit foods once you feel something is not working, but don't base a diet off of what to avoid, that will make you malnourished and very depressed when you have nothing left to eat! It is true that some people have issues with some foods, but remember, try it for yourself first :)

Get to the root of the problem, because acne has a relentless and endless arsenal on the surface and it is sadistic.

Testosterone is a steroid hormone from the androgen group. Omega 3 fatty acids can also help to keep the production of androgens under control. Androgens are hormones that influence sebum production and are particularly active during adolescence, which is possibly why many teenagers suffer from acne. Androgen excess may provoke or aggravate acne by inducing seborrhea (sebum). In women, androgen disorders are frequently suspected when acne is accompanied by hirsutism or irregularities of the menstrual cycle. In men, however, acne may be the only sign of androgen excess.

im gonna strictly stick with it for another month til my red marks disappear then il start experimentin, god i miss pizza.

im gonna stick with rice milk coz it tasts too damn good.

you roll the deo on rather than spray it, dunno how else to explain it.

lush is quite expensive but its good stuff

Lots of fruits and veggies
Fish, turkey,chicken & fish....no red meat
Drink @ least 3 Liters of water daily
Supplements:
Fish Oil 1000 mg 3x a day
B-Complex once daily
Acidophilus once daily
Zinc 50 mg daily
Multivitamin
On Dan's Regimen:
Morning
Rinse face with water
Night
Wash face with Cetaphil
BP 2.4%
Apply Neutrogena Healthy Skin Moisturizer w/ AHA
Workout:
3-4x a week
