Some people report spiro affecting their moods. I became anxious on it when I wasn't anxious before. Others have reported the same or depression. For me, the anxiety ended up going away eventually, so I guess my hormones leveled out. I think at first it throws them off. You can go to the hormone section of the board because someone recently started a thread about this.
What is it doing to your mood?

I have thought about it and being in Spiro in terms of my social life has bloomed. I even have a boyfriend now and I feel like if I had the same overload of oil, I wouldn't have a bf because I could barely wear makeup from it being so oily. It was bad. However, being on Spiro is making me feel more depressed and numb. I do think if I went back to my old skin, I would be just as depressed. Catch 22..
I've been on it for a year now. Crazy thinking about it since it seems like yesterday.

Ugh! I knew I wasn't going crazy by saying I felt different when on this! I even woke up in the beginning and said, "The problem is Spiro!" but I loved the oil skin being gone, so I kept it going.

Yeah, a few people have mentioned issues with it.
If the oily skin also depresses you, and makes you not able to live a normal life, then I'd just stay on it, honestly. You can look into saw palmetto which is like spiro, but I don't personally know if it's as effective.
Who's the troll above? lol

I tried to stay away from herbs..vitamins.. whatever it is because they tend to interact with my BCP and that I need to stay on.
Just report them. It is spam. They like to post in here since it has views.

Prilosec from my doctor. Yes, it helps my stomach problems greatly, but the biggest side effect is that it can back you up, so you need to get something like Miralax along with it. TMI, I know. Can I ask which stomach med you're taking? Does it work? You can PM the info if you don't want it public.
Thanks much.

This isn't fun. Ughhh. I got my first chin cystic pimple in a long time! It was huge. I popped it and it even went all over the mirror. That's how bad. I guess I can blame dipping into cheese/dairy again. Sucks, but I need to cut own on the dairy anyways and this is motivation. Dairy = bad PMS for me also. I have a social life now, so it is hard to avoid it 24/7. Considered putting neem oil on it, but popped it instead.

I just wanted to ask that doesn't the neutrogena moisturizer you use have silicone/dimethicone in it? I thought you said you avoid this? Because of this whole "does silicone cause acne" debate, I decided to test it and lay off all silicones and such.
I've been using Pratima's neem oil sunscreen spf 30 and rejuvenating moisturizer at night for the last 3 months. I didn't know my skin could glow. I recently have been trying the essential oil for all skin types, and put it on before or with my moisturizer. Everyone has given me compliments on my skin and say that it just glows. The moisturizers and oil are free of alcohols, silicones, preservatives, etc. They are expensive, but I won't ever let another lotion touch my face. My face feels so natural and like it's literally breathing lol. I didn't realize how much my skin felt like it was suffocating under all those moisturizers and primers. I no longer have these nasty clogged pores and blackheads.
I'm glad that you're getting out and enjoying life

Weird thing is happening. My skin has been getting more smile lines, so I have to wonder if it is from my acne scarring or because Spiro dries my skin out. Wrinkles can come to life by dry skin. It is really frustrating. I don't think my skin can handle mineral powder anymore because it is so drying. I'm going to try Frownies on the wrinkles, so I hope it doesn't break me out.
Mineral makeup is horrible in general. I have a teenaged sister with nearly perfect skin and she looks 10 years older with BareMinerals applied. I don't know why people think a dry powder is going to look better than a liquid that can move with your skin.

I use mineral makeup because I couldn't make liquid foundation work and imo, liquid tends to have more irritating ingredients than mineral. I do agree it can be drying and age you, so makeup is hard to figure out either way.
