I'm glad you weren't upset or mad.

Some people report spiro affecting their moods. I became anxious on it when I wasn't anxious before. Others have reported the same or depression. For me, the anxiety ended up going away eventually, so I guess my hormones leveled out. I think at first it throws them off. You can go to the hormone section of the board because someone recently started a thread about this.

What is it doing to your mood?

Ugh! I knew I wasn't going crazy by saying I felt different when on this! I even woke up in the beginning and said, "The problem is Spiro!" but I loved the oil skin being gone, so I kept it going.

I have thought about it and being in Spiro in terms of my social life has bloomed. I even have a boyfriend now and I feel like if I had the same overload of oil, I wouldn't have a bf because I could barely wear makeup from it being so oily. It was bad. However, being on Spiro is making me feel more depressed and numb. I do think if I went back to my old skin, I would be just as depressed. Catch 22..

I've been on it for a year now. Crazy thinking about it since it seems like yesterday.

Yeah, a few people have mentioned issues with it.

If the oily skin also depresses you, and makes you not able to live a normal life, then I'd just stay on it, honestly. You can look into saw palmetto which is like spiro, but I don't personally know if it's as effective.

Who's the troll above? lol

I tried to stay away from herbs..vitamins.. whatever it is because they tend to interact with my BCP and that I need to stay on.

Just report them. It is spam. They like to post in here since it has views.

Oh, that's right, you're on BCP, I forgot. Yeah, you can't take it on them.

I did report them and they're gone now. :)

Can I ask which stomach med you're taking? Does it work? You can PM the info if you don't want it public.

Thanks much.

Prilosec from my doctor. Yes, it helps my stomach problems greatly, but the biggest side effect is that it can back you up, so you need to get something like Miralax along with it. TMI, I know.

This isn't fun. Ughhh. I got my first chin cystic pimple in a long time! It was huge. I popped it and it even went all over the mirror. That's how bad. I guess I can blame dipping into cheese/dairy again. Sucks, but I need to cut own on the dairy anyways and this is motivation. Dairy = bad PMS for me also. I have a social life now, so it is hard to avoid it 24/7. Considered putting neem oil on it, but popped it instead.

Hey I thought I'd stop by again :) It's interesting seeing what you're trying and sensitive to what causes your break outs. You've helped me out sooo much and I can't thank you enough for creating this blog, updating it, and giving wonderful advice!!

I just wanted to ask that doesn't the neutrogena moisturizer you use have silicone/dimethicone in it? I thought you said you avoid this? Because of this whole "does silicone cause acne" debate, I decided to test it and lay off all silicones and such.

I've been using Pratima's neem oil sunscreen spf 30 and rejuvenating moisturizer at night for the last 3 months. I didn't know my skin could glow. I recently have been trying the essential oil for all skin types, and put it on before or with my moisturizer. Everyone has given me compliments on my skin and say that it just glows. The moisturizers and oil are free of alcohols, silicones, preservatives, etc. They are expensive, but I won't ever let another lotion touch my face. My face feels so natural and like it's literally breathing lol. I didn't realize how much my skin felt like it was suffocating under all those moisturizers and primers. I no longer have these nasty clogged pores and blackheads.

I'm glad that you're getting out and enjoying life :) Yes, this strict diet is hard to keep 24/7, but don't beat yourself up for it. :) you're awesome!

!! 99% clear !!

My Morning Regimen

Wash face with luke warm water
Pat with clean towel
Moisturize with Pratima neem oil face sunscreen spf 30
Aveda mineral dual foundation with clean sponge for makeup sometimes.

My Evening Regimen

If I wore makeup, remove with Bioderma Crealine H2O and cotton pads
Rinse face with lukewarm water and papaya likas soap.
Manuka honey mask for 30-60 minutes
If Shower, wash with luke warm water and papaya soap. Aveda shampoo. No cloths or scrubs or abrasives.
Pat face with clean towel.
If skin is dry, use Pratima Essential Oil
Apply dime size amount of Finacea gel to face and neck. Alternate with Differin lotion.

Diet:

I avoid milk, wheat, caffeine, and soy. Drink lot's of water!

Medications:
Ortho Tricyclen (birth control), Finacea gel, Differin lotion.

Other:
I avoid dimethicone/silicone products, sodium lauryl sulfate, and scented moisturizers. Wash clothes, towels, sheets in hot water only. No detergent.

Yeah, pretty sure it does. I was surprised to know it isn't breaking me out either. It is rare and have tried other moisturizers in the recent past, but those broke me out too, so it's not like the medication was stopping it. Well, as a girl, you have to be specific in the moisturizers because I wear makeup. I can't wear a lot of lotions for that reason alone. Anything that makes me "glow" is bad lol.

For some reason, my skin has been getting progressively better when it comes to the redness. I never thought it would die down, but it has. It used to be my biggest struggle after the acne went away. My skin is still pink in some areas, but at least it isn't throbbing and red like before!

Weird thing is happening. My skin has been getting more smile lines, so I have to wonder if it is from my acne scarring or because Spiro dries my skin out. Wrinkles can come to life by dry skin. It is really frustrating. I don't think my skin can handle mineral powder anymore because it is so drying. I'm going to try Frownies on the wrinkles, so I hope it doesn't break me out.

Mineral makeup is horrible in general. I have a teenaged sister with nearly perfect skin and she looks 10 years older with BareMinerals applied. I don't know why people think a dry powder is going to look better than a liquid that can move with your skin.

I use mineral makeup because I couldn't make liquid foundation work and imo, liquid tends to have more irritating ingredients than mineral. I do agree it can be drying and age you, so makeup is hard to figure out either way.

I plan on using my acne light 4-5 days a week to see if anything changes with my redness. I started on the 16th.

Did some dermarolling on my pock marks near my mouth. I do not have high hopes, but better than doing nothing. It is wild looking the mirror at the end of the day and not seeing oil on my face. I am starting to miss the oil on my face and I think it could be harmful, especially when it comes to redness and wrinkles. It is getting annoying with the dry feeling and having a moisturizer not quench it. I have been taking 100 mg Spiro pills every other day or so instead. I might spread it out longer to see how fast it goes back to normal concerning oil.

I'm back to using my old love. I'm talking about the Neutrogena sensitive skin lotion + SkinCeuticals Phyto Corrective Gel. I stopped because it was too oily for me, especially under makeup. I don't dare put it under makeup now, but I slather it on when I take my makeup off and it hydrates it back to normal. The combination lotion from Neutrogena was too light for me in the long run.

Something is happening. I am get more clogged pores on the chin/lower area of my face. I pop them with a needle and then push out a really long, white plug. I never had those before. I am glad they are NOT puss filled zits at least! They are annoying because if I left them alone, they'd be sitting on my face forever. Maybe it is from my Sensitive skin moisturizer for being thick.
