I've been on Finacea gel for a little over a month now. For the first month, it made me break out really bad. I swear that a years worth of acne was drawn out of my skin. I got acne in places I've never had problems.

Currently, things are starting to subside. I'm still getting a few whiteheads here and there, but now I have a bunch of red marks (which the finacea seems to be clearing at a pretty rapid pace).

Am I the only one to experience an IB on Finacea? How long does it take for this stuff to kick in?
Pride (Please rip it away)

Happiness doesn’t have a set weight
Don’t push it away with problems you create
If I just, if I just, then all will be great
It’s how I always feel, can anyone relate?

I’m sick of being stuck in a self--made crate,
Slabs of penetrating lies bind me up in this state
But I will no longer succumb to a cold darkened fate
Joy found in hands who saw me worthy to create

I finally don’t have to be selfish and fake
A heart full of pride He can carefully break
Now I know why what He gives I should take
There’s something greater than myself at stake.

I didn't get an IB on azelaic acid. Things got better at the start, but I cannot be sure if it was azelaic acid kicking in or not. I've been using it for 2 months now and I am pretty sure that it is helping to keep the left side of my face totally clear. Things aren't that good for the right side, but it's still better than before.

I'd say you should stick with it for another 2 months before conluding whether it is effective or not.

Thank you.

Yeah, every day now my skin is getting progressively better. Red marks heal at crazy speeds.
This stuff is gooood:)

I never got an IB with it (like I did with retinoids!). I have been using it for about 6 months now and have gotten really good results with it. Fades marks really well too.

Hmmmm...I wonder why I broke out. Does Finacea work anything like a retinoid? Does it draw junk out of your skin?

I don't think it works exactly like a retinoid, but in some ways it does. From the top of my head, I can only remember they are similar because they cause skin cells to be less sticky thus preventing a clog from forming. It shouldn't cause an IB because it doesn't increase cell turnover. Also, finacea is antibacterial while retinoids certainly aren't.

Hmmmm...weird because I broke out really badly from it.
Is it possible I'm allergic?
I'm going to the derm and allergy specialist tomorrow. What do you want to bet I'm allergic to wheat? That would be classic, smearing the very stuff I'm allergic to all over my face...

We'll see.

I pray that I can get some relief from all of this. I don't think I can emotionally take much more. I'm starting to just become...numb. I want to wake up again, be my old self.

Nope. Not allergic to ANYTHING (according to the allergist). She didn't even test me for any sort of food allergy. She said food allergies affect more than just your sinuses and face, that I would have a full body reaction and physically get sick if I had any sort of food allergy.

My derm prescribed me accutane. I get it in 30 days (stupid pregnancy tests). I can't wait. I'm so sick of this.

Has anybody used finacea and glycolic acid. I'm asking this in hopes that you can compare the two, is finacea less irritating, more, how are they similar how are they different?

I went off Birth Control and my skin has been going crazy. After trying so many OTC suggestions on this site, I finally went to see a dermatologist.

She suggested the following regimen:

AM
purpose gentle cleanser
a glycolic toner
cerave lotion

PM
Purpose gentle cleanser
finacea 15%

Do you wear finacea all over face, or just spot treat existing acne? After reading the positive reviews on here, I'm really hoping it works for me!!

i use finacea all over as well. i really love it and it is amazing at fading spots and making skin tone more even. i did have some small whiteheads pop up but no major break outs from it.
My Favs:

Hyperpigmentation Treatment- Licorice ( mario badescu whitening mask)

ya I'm definitely noticing it's making my skin look great, esp in the areas I don't have acne (forehead, cheeks) but my chin area where my breakouts are centered is still bumpy/inflamed sad.gif I don't know if Finacea is making it any better- day 6.

You really won't notice much difference on your acne with Finacea in that short amount of time. I'd give it at least 3 months of continual use before judging. But you should start seeing a bit of improvement on your skin tone evenness and such after about 4 weeks (hopefully).

i started on finacea about a month ago. when i started, I had an IB but since then no acne. finacea has helped a little with the redness/irritation left behind when I was using retin-a. the only problem is the IB left behind some pigmented spots! will finacea help fade these spots over time?

on another note, what can you safely combine finacea with? i'm seeing the derm in two weeks and was wondering if you can use finacea with retin-a, obaji nu derm clear, etc. any success stories with these combinations?
