Decreased appetite....Accutane??

27 posts in this topic

Has anyone else experienced a decreased appetite while on Accutane? I'm debating whether this is a side effect of the Accutane. If it's a side effect, then I'll take it! I LOVE food, but since I've been on this medication I don't have as much of an appetite. And it doesn't take much food for me to feel satisfied or full. It's almost like I feel hunger, but couldn't really care less whether or not I eat. When I feel hunger, I go ahead and eat, but usually just enough to knock off the hunger and then I'm good to go.

Has anyone else experienced this? It could be unrelated to my treatment, but I'm just wondering.

My Regimen

40mg isotretanoin daily

Came off isotretanoin due to feeling like a cabbage, going for it holistically.

Jog half an hour each day to destress and to get oxygen levels flowing and blood pumping.

Morning - cleanse with clearasil 3 in 1 for sensitive skin

5 fruits and veg a day - or best to my ability to do this

********avoid HYDROGENATED FATS********

Supplements - Milk Thistle// Omega 3 & 6 fish oil capsules, cod liver oil // every other day, B5& B Complex//

emu oil - GOD SEND has made my red marks and scars fade

Night time - Cleanse using warm water... little bit of differin on spot prone areas (stress just tiny bit) and cetaphil moisturiser

Every few days - Benzyl peroxide on spot prone areas (helps oxygenate skin - stopping the "environments" for acne vulgaris forming)

Thanks guys! I'm glad to know it's not just me and then most likely the Accutane. This is actually a pleasant side effect for me, because I need to shed a few pounds anyway. Wow -- Accutane, the new diet drug! lol

I totally lost my appetite. One of my girlfriends just commented on how thin I got, and asked how I did it... I told her to pray for acne! lol

This is one side effect I'll be thankful for! I normally love food so much that I keep right on enjoying it after I'm full. Now I can actually control myself.

Yikes! I wonder if has anything to do with metabolism. One thing I'm thinking could contribute to the curbed appetite is that I'm drinking so much water, I may not feel hungry. But on the other hand, when I do feel hunger, I don't have much desire to eat. It's really a strange thing.

Wow, you people are losing weight?!? I've gained about 11 pounds in three months! (Although it's mostly muscle I think). If anything, my appetite has grown substantially.

I just started accutane about 12 days ago and I have already noticed a decrease in my appetite. I haven't lost any weight though, but before I use to eat day and night and never be full and now it seems like I get full... or rather satisfied a lot quicker. However, I have been craving chocolate a lot lately which is not very good! Haha! But... this could be due to the abundance of chocolate in my house since it was just Easter and I kinda got spoiled by the Easter Bunny!! I was wondering if this was a side affect of tane and I guess I found my answer!

I have noticed a decrease in appetite, I really noticed when I went to the cinema last night and actually didn't eat my body weight in pic'n'mix!

However I have also steadily worked my way through more than a few easter eggs recently (it would be rude not too) so any potential weight loss will have to wait I feel!

It made my appetite smaller too.

Hopefully I can shed a few pounds so I won't look overweight compared to the regular Japanese guy when I go to japan.

yeppers... I haven't been on mine but 3 weeks and I have DEFINETLEY noticed a decrease in appetite. have to force feed myself sometimes so i can take my next pill.

BUT... I have never been a breakfast person before and now I take my pill with food at the end of my day before I go to bed and wake up starving!?! I have to eat every morn now... but as for the rest of the day... Im not really hungry

Ice cream sandwiches are the only thing I really LOVE to eat now. haha

I have been on Tane for less than a week and my appetite has definately decreased - dont think its a coincidence to be honest as I am a proper comfort eater and have been feeling sorry for myself the last couple of days!! :boohoo:

It'd be good to lose a few pounds AND get rid of my spots too! Bonus!

I'm the opposite.. my appetite has increased A LOT! I don't know if it's due to Accutane, but I'm liking it because I'm gaining weight (I'm a small fry who weighed about 135 and am now up to 145 in just a couple months). I'm also taking protein and working out, so that may be part of the appetite increase.

 Me too. I feel like I am always wanting to eat. Especially something sweet. Idk, I am very dry. Maybe if I try drinking lots of water I won't eat as much. I do feel full quicker, but like I said, I do crave sweet at the end of the day.
