I became a member to this site over 2 years ago (can't remember my last account info so I had to open up a new account) well I've used a lot of the stuff that was recommended on this site (aspirin mask, huge dosages of vitamin B, lots of home made remedies, etc, etc, etc) some worked briefly, some didn't, some even made my cystic acne even worse.

When I tell you I've tired it all, pills, creams, antibiotics, doctor visit after doctor visit, microdermabrasion, light therapy, tanning, ZENO, Proactive, Murad Solution, Accutane, chemical peels, etc, etc, etc....again some worked briefly, and some just never worked and some actually made my acne even worse.

I've spent clear over $30,000 in the last 21 years for treatments and nothing seemed to help, well that was until 2 months ago..........

Two months ago I finally decided to go get my bottom lip pierced (I have a thing for piercing, 7 total so far, I know, I know some of you dont like them, but I really love how they look). Upon leaving my piercing place, my regular piercer handed me a 4oz bottle of new soap that they started recently using and asked me to use this liquid soap around my new piercing to keep it clean during the healing process. Well the first night I got home opened up the bottle of "Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Pure-Castile Soap" and put a small amount on a cotton ball and some water and cleaned the area around my piercing (bottom lip above my chin) I loved how the soap made my skin tingled so I wiped the cotton ball all over my face and then washed it off with cool water, then I went to bed.

The next morning I work up and went straight to the bathroom to do my normal routine and noticed that my face wasn't as oily and my 3 cysts on my bottom jaw line were a little smaller. I thought to myself...."Uhm I wonder if this soap is really that good"........Well I ran and got on the Internet and did a search under "Dr. Bronner's Soap" and sure enough I find a line of these soaps.....they have all different kinds, for all different skin problems, not to mention all the soaps are organic. I think "Dam that's even better!" I do a search for what stores carry the line and sure enough "Whole Foods" did, so I called them up and asked for 2 specific kinds, the Peppermint one, and also the Tea Tree one, they told me they had them both.

I made a quick trip to Whole Foods and picked up a huge bottle of the Peppermint 32oz (I wanted to use it for showering purposes) it was about $14.00, and I also picked up a 8oz bottle of the Tea-tree (for washing my face with) it was about $8.00.

Well that was 2 months ago and wouldn't you know it, no more face acne, or body acne. I was dumb founded. I couldn't believe that this soap actually worked......I didn't change my eating, I hate water with a passion, I drink coke daily, and YES I eat chocolate like it's going out of style ( I have the worst sweet tooth ever)...and even with all that the soap has kept me clear........and this next tid-bit is for the ladies it's even kept me clear at that time of the month, yep NO MORE MONTHLY BREAK-OUTS!!!! Nothing na-da, not even a little one.

What I have noticed is less is more, and by that I mean using to many products on your face is not good and it was probably causing a lot of the problems I was having. I simplified my routine and now I'm clear........

Here's what I do every day...

1. Wash my face in the morning with hot water and clean it with Dr. Bronner's Tea-Tree Pure Castile Soap. I do this twice.

2. Next I turn off the hot water, and turn on the cold water and finish with a cool rinse all over my face.

3. I pat dry my face.

4. I place a small amount of On-the-Spot Acne Treatment Netrogena all over my face, nothing thick just enough to cover the whole face.

.....I'm done......

Then I do the same routine at night.....and that's it nothing else.

I've been clear now for 2 months and I'll make sure and keep everyone up-dated on my progress.

I hope this helps someone out there, cause trust me I know the pain you are going through and I dont wish acne on my worst enemy, well I lie, maybe that horrible girl in college that stole my first boyfriend....slut...LOL lol.gif

Good luck everyone!!!!!

That is awesome! I'm glad you found something that works for you. I am close to your age (33 years old) and I've dealt with acne on and off for over 20 years. I had a horrible bout of cystic acne this past year that has left me with some small indented scars here and there. I started getting it under control when I regularly exfoliated my face with Aveeno Positively Radiant cleansing pads. I finally bought some of Dan's BP gel and started using it a few days ago and it works great! I highly recommend it. It is much more cost effective than buying the Neutrogena On the Spot (I had used that one for years) even with shipping costs. The tube of Dan's BP gel is HUGE. I love how easy it is to apply and it seems to work great. My small bumps are fading away more and more every day. Anyway, I'm going to try that soap you recommended if the current one I'm using doesn't work for me. (Dove Sensitive Skin) You don't use any moisturizer? I find I need it - especially during the winter months - for the flakies.

Thanks!!!!!!

As far as moisturizer goes...nope, dont need it.....the Tea-tree soap does not dry me out, it actually leaves it super soft and with the on spot treatment, I'm good. The only thing I put cream on is right under my eyes, but not because of drying but because I'm fighting the dam lines LOL

The funny part is right when I just gave up giving a rats-ass about my skin, and after spending so much time and a small fortune on my horrible skin, wouldn't you know it my regular piercer was the one that turned me on to a relatively cheap solution to my 21 year head-ache...needless to say he's got a really nice x-mass present coming his way.

I use the liquid and it has lasted me forever. A little goes a long way.

This girl's story is just another testimonial to the fact that alcohols, dyes, fragrances, and sodium lauryl (laureth) sulfates serve no other purpose than to aggravate acne...I rest my case! Good find!!! I don't use or believe in moisturizer as well, who needs more chemicals??? You may want to try out Klaron instead of Neutrogena On-The-Spot as a topical, if you need it.

I tried both the Tea Tree soap and the Peppermint after a few people that i know cleared up using it but it just didn't work for me. I really wanted it to work. It seem as if every natural soap i have tried didn't work or it actually made the condition worse. I am tempted to try again as i has adjusted my diet once again. Amber, do u dilute the soap?..it is very drying to me and the maker even suggests to dilute it alot if using as a facial soap.

I noticed that on the bottle it does say to dilute it, but I never have I just squirt some right out of the bottle and lather it all over my face. I guess I must have super oily skin cause not only do I not dilute the soap, I use BP and no moisturizer, and I dont even have a dry patch. There is another soap they offer it's a sensitive formula, I think it's called "Baby formula" not sure, just do a search under "Dr. Bronner's soap".....Good Luck.

Amber, based on your recommendation, I went to The Vitamin Shoppe yesterday, and picked up Dr. Bronner's Baby Mild Liquid Soap. I just started today, and adjusted my sig! I like to keep my regimen simple, the verdict is not out yet on it. It did feel nice, and rinsed off clean without any "residue feeling". I'm hoping this will work out even better than the California Baby I was using previously. Thanks for the tip! Funny thing is...a chemical company I worked for years back, manufactured a soap very similar to this, WHO KNEW??? Some things just come full circle, I suppose! I am impressed with the all natural ingredients, and opted for the "no-fragrance" formula.

Congratulations Amber! Your story has inspired me to try this soap. Like you I have tried numerous treatments with varying degrees of success. As I'm entering my 18th year of acne (lord help me) I realize I won't be "growing out of it" anytime soon. I'm crossing my fingers that this will work for me so I don't have to rely on prescriptions or the dermatologist.

Be sure to post some updates, and congratulations again.

congrats amber. my story is similar to yours. had acne for 10 yrs, spent thousands, tried everything. after being on acne.org for over a year and trying various things that did not work i stumbled upon a post about grandpas thylox sulfur soap. i had never heard of it. i was at the local herb shop one day shopping for vitamins and saw a bar of it and decided to try it. it has worked wonders on my skin. ive been relatively clear for 3 months now. all i use is the soap twice a day and a light moisturizer prior to applying make up. simple is definitely better. smile.gif

My local organic store was out of Dr. B.'s Tea Tree soap so I bought Dr. Woods' Tea Tree Castile Soap, which appeared to have the same ingredients. My skin does feel less oily than usual and no new breakouts. I just had a bad breakout recently so now that my skin has calmed down again it's a good time to try a new regimen. It's only been 4 days so time will tell, but I'm optimistic.

I'm going to give the peppermint one a go for chest acne that hasn't responded to anything else I've tried so far. It'd be amazing if it keeps working - I hope it does - great discovery!

Hello Amber,

I am 42 and still breaking out. Is that cleanser available in the Philippines? I would like to give it a shot. Hope to hear from you.

Thanks
