I have been using AHA 10% for a few months now because I was having a ton of clogged pores that were turning into small inflamed whiteheads. That was going on, on my cheeks and chin. Now all of a sudden the main problem is my jaw. I have 1 active pimple there right now, 1 clogged pore, and about 5 redmarks. Fortunately the AHA gets rid of the redmarks fairly quickly, but I still want to tknow why I am breaking out. My theory: this is my first semester in graduate school and it is very very stressful, in addition I eat very bad foods and have been drinking more soda and coffee lately. Also, I have focused the AHA on my actual face, trying not to get it near my jaw since if it goes does to my neck it can get kind of dry. So I guess my thought is that I need to start washing my jaw and neck when I wash my face, adding AHA to the jaw, and moisturizing my face to my neck thouroughly. By the way I have suffered from acne for 3 years now. It only gets bad if I mess with it, which I often do. I was on the regimen for over a year and a 1/2 but I quit a year ago because BP was too intense for me, I wanted something a little more natural. I didn't use anyting from last Dec. to May and then it was finals time and I was graduating and I started getting clogged pores, and ever since then they have been turning into whiteheads one by one. My face really isn't that bad, I usually have a couple small whiteheads at a time, but I don't want to constantly deal with whiteheads and redmarks- especially because I am very fair so they show up like crazy. So anyways, some advice would be wonderful.

I have had the same problem but differently, I used to only use cetaphil daily facial cleanser, which i find to be very very drying, and some kind of moisturizer.

But anyway, i have stopped all chemicals on my face, I might like once a week clean with regular cetaphil cleanser, regular!. Lol call me dirty, but this has reduced inflamed pimples from 4 to 5 at a time to barely one at a time and reduced inflamed whiteheads. I only suffer from blackheads and some occasional non inflamed whiteheads without the red ring surrounding them above my chin. In my experience, I think they come due to masterbation/hormonal imbalance. But I also really have no idea how to stop the whiteheads from coming back.

Have you tried exfoliating? I keep saying this cos it works so well for me and that's to try the babybrush method. I also have ridiculously fair skin that shows up everything. It's also very natural (no chemicals etc) and isnt irritating.
