problems with dryness or flaking?

This may sound crazy BUT sometimes we have to go back to the basics. With that in mind at night you can use castor oil - it penetrates the surface layers of the skin for softer more pliable skin, it is also a good humectant. Additionally, you can use Vaseline, or Crisco. That's right I said Crisco. Crisco's ingredients consists of soybean oil, hydrogenated palm oil, partially hydrogenated soybean - which are all good for the skin.*Moderator edit, URL removed – please read the board rules*

Anyone has problems with dry lips especially? My skin is fine, but the lips are extremely dry. I am addicted to lip balm. And it's not just winter, any time of year! Should I get off the lip balm and hopefully the lips will start to moisten themselves naturally or should I keep applying it when my lips are dry?

I experience the dry lips too and I experience it all year long. I have used a multitude of balms. Does anyone have experience with anything that actually works? *Moderator edit, URL removed – please read the board rules*

I have been using jojoba oil on my lips since the beginning of the regimen and so far I have not experienced any dryness on my lips (I am almost in my fourth week). Here's a link to the video where Dan shows you how to use it:

Yes. Closer to my second week of the regime my skin was out of control with dryness and flakyness. I stopped the treatment for one day and used an exfoliator but only once! should help. Good luck.

BP has been been drying my skin out a lot but moisturizers usually break me out. Any one have any recommendations on how to tackle this?

I am currently during the second week of the regimen. I'm noticing dryness around my chin, sides of mouth and nose which isn't a big deal. But as i apply the moisturizer and BP I've felt some burning. Is this normal?

Thanks, sounds good!

What if I wear make-up during the day, I wouldnt be able to do this at night then, coz the make-up has to come off first?

Jojoba oil is great make-up remover. If i were you I would get a cotton pad with Jojoba oil and gently work on removing my eye make-up first. Then you can start putting Jojoba oil on the rest of your face. Don't even worry about the foundation you have on cause while massaging your face you're also removing the make-up.

Is it okay to use moisturizer first before the treatment, bcos it would make my skin less flaky

Or does it make the regimen less effective and take more time to heal acne?

Make-up can be a good idea to get rid of dryness, but its just a temporary solution to hide it. One should follow some mosturizers , it can be a best option specially in winters.

Because i guess it's too much by using 2 pumps of moisturizer at once

But it's necessary on winter, so i did (all acne.org product) by doing these steps morning &night

1. Wash my face acne.org cleanser

(Wait 5 mnts until my face dry)

2. 1 pump of moisturizer+jojoba oil 4 drops

(Wait 5 mnts until absorb)

3. BP i just started so i use half pump

(Wait 5 mnts)

4. A pump of moisturizer + jojoba oil 4 drops

Is it effective by doing so?

Hey there... I am just wondering so if I were to follow your routine to help drying/flakiness.... you stated that we should put the jojoba oil before cleansing the face so lets say i did my morning regimen and at the evening if i want to do your routine with the jojoba oil do I just apply it right on top (as in on top of my face that has my morning regimen on) or do i quickly wash my face but not cleansing and apply the jojoba oil gently?!!!

Thank uu!! :)

My first time on the regimen, I experienced dryness and flaking even into my 4th month. At the time I was using jojoba oil along with Dan's moisturizer at night mixed with AHA and the Olay Complete (Sensitive Skin) with SPF 15 for daytime use and my skin didn't like either one. I quit the regimen due to the flakiness and tightness that never wanted to go away.

I am on the regimen for the second time now and am using Cerave PM facial moisturizer during the day and mixed with jojoba oil and Dan's AHA at night and no longer battle flakiness! Just a tip.

What's been helping me:

- Yasmin

- the Regimen (done once daily)

- 30 mg Zinc once daily

- 5,000 IU Vitamin D3 once daily

How long does it take for the dryness / redness to kick in?

I started the regimen on my chest yesterday and no signs so far after three lots of BP.

Many people actually use jojoba oil as a facial cleanser. This is a very good way to remove your makeup in the evening before you use the cleanser. Sometimes I'll use just the jojoba to wash my face.
