I was just wondering what the benefits are of stopping eating after 8pm? So that by the time you're in bed you haven't eaten for like 3 hours.

You don't have to wake up every so often during the night to go potty. That's an advantage.

your metabolism slows down at night. so if you eat a lot at night, it is easy to gain weight.

If you are hungry after 8, let's say 10-11, don't starve yourself.

Well if you get the recommended 8 hours of sleep then you would be getting 10 hours or more of not eating potentially if you went to bed around 10m.

From what I've read your body is more at rest when you sleep if it does not have to do any heavy digesting of meals. This is supposed to result in more healing and better nights rest in general.

Also supposedly any inflammatory factor resulting from the food you may have eaten will be diminished the longer a meal has had time to digest before sleeping.
-----------------------------------

Personally I've experimented greatly with how much time I wait before going to bed after my last meal. I've even tried to binge eat immediately before bed to see how my body reacts and how well I sleep, healing factor, etc etc.

Keeping in mind everyone is a bit different; what I've noticed is that it doesn't really matter how long I wait after eating before I got to bed, rather is WHAT you eat that makes the biggest difference. I tend to sleep a lot better and wake much more rested if I make my last meal mostly protein and stay from spaghetti dinners and such. That means no pizza or soda before bed, but rather salmon green beans and small cup of veggie soup for example.

yep, when you sleep you don't burn very many cals. it's better not to eat before bed, especially if you are trying to loose weight.
